Hey guys, my name is Luke.

I’m a former US Navy Seabee veteran of Iraq & Afghanistan, I’m a strength and conditioning coach in Benton Harbor Michigan where I own a holistic health studio with my partner, Adrienne who does most of the Yoga side of things.

I’ve developed my fair share of injuries from a robust childhood and military service.  Everything from brain injuries to severe disc herniations and broken bones.  One of the reasons I left the military was due to an ultimatum to get surgery in my knee or be suspended.  I wanted to heal myself holistically so I began my journey with Yoga and breathing, which is how I met my wonderful, amazing partner!  It was awful to dig into myself like that and I quickly realized I needed to subdue the immense pain in my body.  Often I would simply not make it out of bed from pain and depression.  I radically changed my diet and started experimenting in 2015 with cleaner eating and a Paleo lifestyle.  I decided to apply my love of experimentation to nutrition and just see what really worked.  Paleo was a big upgrade for me.  I tried veganism but only lasted 10 days before I felt about the worst I’ve ever been in my life.  Vegetarian diet was next and that was, again, only about a two-week period before I decided it wasn’t for me.  I revisited Paleo and decided to up the meat consumption along with raw milk and raw eggs.  HUGe boost in my testosterone and I felt like a million bucks!  I was healing finally!  I took my recovery very seriously and even went so far as to work only 2 months out of the year between 2015-2016 at high-paying nuclear jobs so I could take 6-8 hours a day to perform rehab on my injuries, meditation, Yoga, and added in cold water submersion.  I was introduced to the Wim Hof method in 2016 and hit the water immediately.  This was another HUGE help!  I got in Lake Michigan in the dead of winter twice a day to relive pain and learn to control my emotions body processes.  This eventually led to fasting protocols, which I started testing out in late 2016.  I had been doing the traditional 16/8 fasting method with some success but when I began to go for longer 3-5 and even 10-day fasts I really started to notice my joints healing rapidly.  The combination of more meat and fasting proved to be working wonders.  In 2016 we decided to open our own Yoga and strength training studio.  I researched more fasting methods and tested them before recommending to my students.  In 2018 I punched it up to the next level when I started to follow Cole Robinson and I went on a hardcore routine:

  • Dry fast every day until strength training
  • Drink salt water before lifting kettlebells
  • Eat one meal at night
  • 40-48 hour Dry fast every weekend

I did this for 9 months!  The results were a complete healing of my right knee which I was told had no more cartilage and would never get better.  My L4/L5 disc herniation was completely better and my memory and IQ began to improve immensely!  I had done everything contrary to what I was taught in school and throughout life and it actually worked!  Since 2018 I’ve worked with almost a dozen morbidly obsession students who are now either back to a normal weight or well on their way.  My buddy, Dave, is the best example.  He went from being in a wheelchair for five years and on 28 medications, along with diabetes, to dropping 140lbs and lifting weights over a SIX MONTH period!  It blew my mind!  He doesn’t have type II diabetes anymore and is no longer on those medications and no longer suicidal.  A truly inspirational story!

My fasting success is not where I intended to stop my experimental journey.  In late 2018 I began to research the carnivore diet looking at all the success stories and thought this would be an interesting one to try out.  It went against all my preconceived notions about health but, hey, so had everything else that works!  So I dove right in.  I decided to put the fasting as a secondary focus but I ended up only wanting to eat once or twice a say anyways.  I’m a big fruit eater so that was the toughest part for me but after a few days the sugar cravings began to go away.  My body responded very well to the diet and I managed to work out the kinks most people seem to go through when they first start.  Constipation, the runs, weakness, withdrawal symptoms, etc. were all present for me but I learned to increase fat and tweak certain foods.  I did this for about 6 months and went back to a more standard Paleo diet with far less fruits and veggies.  Towards the end of summer, in 2019, I decided to test out a little experiment with raw meat.  I had seen people trying it and claiming they didn’t need water!  I ended up doing a 17-day raw meat “cleanse” without drinking any liquids!  The first 4 days I drank raw milk and raw eggs as I was quite thirsty but I weaned off of them.  I kept training as normal (actually I reintegrated barbells for the first time in 4 years!) but I did not drink an ounce of water.  I felt high but in a good way, not loopy.  It was the most incredible experience.  On day 10 my foot magically shifted back into place!  See, a few years back I broke my ankle and foot in 6 places and one of the metatarsals never went back into place and it made jumping pretty tough.  Ever since the bone shifting back into place I’m literally better than I ever have been!  I ended the raw meat experiment and I think it’s a great reset and I’ll probably do it once a year 🙂

To date I am still mostly carnivorous, especially on day which I don’t train.  I lift heavy now and am getting stronger by the day!  I specialize in strength and conditioning work and building a nutrition base for individuals to coincide with their S&C goals so there is no dogma here at all.  If you’re interested in 100% carnivore I’ve had 2 years of solid experience with the routine and have worked with quite a few in-person students relating to meat-based or meat exclusive diets.  If you want information on regenerative grass-finished animal agriculture I’ve worked with a local farm for almost 3-years and am currently in the process of starting my own ranch, so I can give you some direction there.  As far as credentials are concerned I’m all experience.  I won’t talk about stuff I haven’t done myself but can point you in the right direction on topics which I am not qualified to speak on.  No ego and all RESULTS!
