A little about me.
52 yo, 177cm (5’10”)
Weight in 2009 107kg
Current weight 79kg
Have knee stability issues and have had 8 operations on them with the 1st being when I was 15, last one being 25 yrs ago.
Minimal cartilage in knees so have not played sport since early 20’s
With minimal exercise and a lot of travel for work, weight has always been an issue during adult life.
In 2012 I started exercising (walking then building up to running) and eating differently, dropped weight from 107kg to 75kg but when I stopped, it quickly went back up to 100kg
In June 2018, I watched the Magic Pill movie and decided that changing to ketogenic lifestyle for long term health would be beneficial.
My reasoning for this decision was that I had watched my father suffer from Parkinson’s Disease and dementia as well as working part time in mental health, and seeing the links between food and mental health I wanted to try to avoid these issues.
I started the next day and over the following 6 mths dropped 25kg and felt fantastic everyday.
I had slowly lowered my carbs from 20gm a day to under 10gm so in June 2019, I thought I’d try a month of zero carb, so tried carnivore.
My body felt so much better so I never went back to ketogenic.
Since going carnivore the pains in my arthritic knees have all but gone, my body composition has changed more, with less fat and a lot leaner muscle
The past 3 January’s I have participated in an 800km in 8 day charity bike ride in Thailand, and seeing the difference has been amazing
January 2018 – SAD completed and was tired most nights
January 2019 – Ketogenic had lots of energy, longest day was 150km which I rode fasted for 24hrs
January 2020 – Carnivore similar energy to 2019, though felt a lot stronger, again rode fasted especially when provided lunch was not suitable.
