Robert lost weight and improved his acid reflux on a carnivore diet

About two years ago, I was overweight with a big belly and chronic acid reflux. I know acid reflux might seem like a mundane health issue, but for those who have suffered from it you know how debilitating it can be. My doctor prescribed me a prescription strength anti acid and told me the catch was it could cause stomach ulcers in the long run. I decided not to take it and instead continued to suffer until I made a serious change in my diet. I started with a paleo approach, then keto and eventually thanks to discovering Dr. Baker’s work I am now dedicated to a fully carnivorous diet. My acid reflux is cured (and when I told my doctor, they still suggested I take the anti-acid). I’ve lost 70 lbs and am leaner and have more energy then I’ve had in a very long time. I don’t hear acid reflux talked about enough when it comes to dietary issues resolved through a carnivore approach, and I know Dr. Baker also suffered from this condition

so I wanted to share my experience for others who might be struggling with it. Also, thanks to Dr. Baker’s passion for regenerative animal agriculture I am now a proud supporter of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association. I think it’s important for people following a carnivore approach to reach out to their local beef suppliers to learn more about the industry and how we as consumers can help. Thank you Dr. Baker for all of your hard work spreading this crucial health information and best of luck in your athletic pursuits coming up!!

John lost weight, improved his pain and skin on a carnivore diet

A Carnivore Swashbuckler

I have had a very unique career. I was a sword-fighting comedian who performed more than four thousand shows in sixteen countries around the world at Renaissance festivals and USO shows. I have done stunts in live stunt shows and have generally abused my body. This, I thought, was the cause for my debilitating knee, ankle and shoulder pain that plagued me daily. I went on to become a motivational speaker who is still very active on stage using whips and nunchucks to convey my message. The pain only increased.

I have always struggled with my weight my entire life  and have been “successful” in losing weight on a myriad of diets. I tried Herbalife, Vegan, Natural Hygienics (Fit for life), 60 day juice fasts, slim fast, and more. My brother being celiac, I went gluten free. After eventual failures with them all, I decided I must be “allergic” to carbohydrates. I got rid of sugar and sweets from my diet, but my weight still ballooned. I went Keto and saw limited results, but I was still in a lot of pain.

My weight continued to increase. My health declined. Topping out at 362 lbs at 6’1” and 55yrs old. I started not being able to tie my own shoes (so I bought slip ons). If I sat down on the floor it was a painful struggle to stand. I became less and less mobile. I would wake every morning with horrible headaches that would last for hours. I struggled to breathe.  I went to the doctor. He told me he thought I had a blood clot in my left leg. Several medications and tests later, he told me its not in my leg, but possibly in my lung. After that proved wrong he told me I might have congestive heart failure, then lung cancer. After many more tests and more prescriptions he decided it was all sleep apnea. I got a CPAP machine and the headaches went away. The pain persisted. I lost faith in modern medicine that shoots in the dark trying to treat symptoms rather than causes.

In the summer of 2019, I went to the beach with my fifteen year old son. We have a jeep and go to a secluded beach to get away from the crowds. The water was a little rough that day and I couldn’t catch my breath while in the water. I decided to get out. I caught a wave to shore a body surfed all the way to the sand. Once there I almost couldn’t get to my feet. After a very painful struggle, followed by dizziness, I got scared. I wasn’t scared for me, but for my son. I realized I was potentially putting him in a scary situation. If I had collapsed in the water, he never would have been able to get me out. If I collapsed on the shore, he wouldn’t be able to get me into the Jeep and at fifteen doesn’t drive. I apologized to him that day and promised I would lose the weight. I searched for solutions for months. I was then inspired to do a google search for, “carbohydrate allergy diet” and quickly found the carnivore diet and decided to give it the thirty days that everyone suggests.

As of  today, I have been on this way of eating for twenty four days. I have lost twenty five pounds. The spot of eczema I have had on my face completely disappeared. My dandruff has completely stopped. Most miraculously, in my opinion, all of my ankle, knee, and shoulder pain have completely gone away. I am so grateful for the carnivore diet. I can say that it didn’t take 30 days for me to decide to continue. I am going to the beach this summer fearless.

Heath lost weight improved his blood pressure, tendinitis, dandruff and hemorrhoids on a carnivore diet

Dr. Baker,
I follow you on YouTube and Facebook and want to thank you for promoting this life changing way of eating.
I started a keto diet 16 months ago at 57 years old with the last 6 months or so primarily carnivore.
I previously was pre-diabetic with metabolic syndrome. High blood pressure , severe tendinitis in my arm, dandruff and even hemorrhoids.  I generally felt like sh-t!
Within 5 months i lost 65 lbs and have maintained my weight loss while gaining lean mass until now.
All of my health issues have reversed !  My blood sugar and pressure are normal. My post prandial sugar level two hours after eating dinner is 84!
I started working out again, lifting heavier than ever and am continuing to build lean mass.  I genuinely am in better shape and feel better at 58 than 28!  My energy levels are insane and no longer even need an alarm clock to awaken in the AM. Here is a pic of me at 28, in 2015, 2018 and 2020.
Keep the videos coming and continue to spread the good word – god bless!

Raymond lost weight, improved his pre-diabetes, digestion, eyesight, brain fog, sleep on a carnivore diet

My name is Raymond. I am 5 foot 11 inches and weigh about 185 pounds.  At my heaviest, I weighed 252 pounds and waist size of 44.

I have been a carnivore since September 15, 2017.  Looking back now 2 years 5 months later, I am so glad I made that decision.

I had many health issues, including pre-diabetes, plantar fasciitis, rosacea, mid-back pain, arthritic knee and finger joints, heel spurs, poor libido, high triglycerides, low HDL, pre-hypertensive  blood pressure, snoring, dandruff, acne, diminishing eyesight, poor wound healing, irritable bowel disease, chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, constant brain fog, insomnia and more.

I felt so bad that there was a point during one of my IBD flare ups, that I was wondering how will I make another 5 years with feeling so awful. Every year it seemed that all my symptoms kept getting worse. I remember when it all started when I was 35 years old and that was the point I could not lose weight anymore. By the time I was 40, I was spending around 30 min to 1 hour 3 times per day in the bathroom. I was highly constipated, I would have leg numbness every time I came out of the bathroom.

I would spend a lot of time thinking of food and I had a insatiable appetite. I would often go out to eat with friends and if they had anything leftover on their plate, I would ask if I could eat their leftovers. I would also do that with my family. I ate around 5 or 6 times per day.

My Diet prior to carnivore was sugary cereals, microwave foods, hungryman, chimichangas, lasagna. I ate a lot of fast foods, Burger King, Subway. I also drank from one to two liters of pepsi per day, I also drank sweet tea, juices, etc.. I avoided water.

In the past, I was always searching for this “magic pill” to treat my many different ailments. I tried all kinds of detoxes, supplements, homeopathic, herbals, juice fasts, I even did 1 week of veganism, that was hell. Most of these had a short term effect but it would never last.

In my youth I was a typical youth that played football, baseball, basketball, ran track, tennis and any sports that I could get my hands on. I also got into weightlifting, all this began diminishing and at 35 was my last foray into weightlifting and I gave that up in 2 months.

I never knew how much of a carbohydrate/sugar addict I was, until researching other’s going through the same thing. That is what gave me the resolve to go through the carnivore diet and treating it like an addiction. I never knew that I could be that guy that can now eat every other day, hardly think about food, able to do incredible feats that seem to get better the longer I am on the diet.

Current diet is meat and cheese. I took away cheese this January, thanks in part to the Meatrx community that showed me how much impaired many other carnivores are with dairy. In that process it seems that I am getting rid of my remaining issues. I am still experimenting.

Last year I did an experiment for 6 months of alternate day eating then for the last 3 months I added 2 days a week of no food. I will be repeating this experiment again learning from the errors of last year. For example I constantly had cold extremities but I think I figured out a way around that this year.

In less than 2 years, the carnivore diet helped me heal completely, or put into remission, most of these ailments. Some have not fully resolved, like dandruff, acne, heel spurs, but they are drastically less and even more so now that I quit dairy.

Not only do I have less ailments, but I also have much more energy and strength. I can do so much now. After carnivore I joined karate and jiujitsu. I do my workouts at Orange Theory (HIIT training). I started hiking and love it. Because the pain is gone and my energy has increased, a world of activates have opened to me that I never enjoyed before.

I have run a 5k, 10k, and a 10 miler so far with just Orange Theory as training. I can do 50 consecutive pushups. I can now run a 7-minute mile. As a side benefit, I gained a 6 pack.

Mark lost weight, improved his joint pain, hypertension and gained muscle on a carnivore diet

Hi, my name is Mark, aka The Carnivore Grandpa. I would like to start by thanking
meatrx.com for inviting me to share my story. Thank you for all you do.

I am 56 year old husband, father, and grandfather. Married to the love of my life for 36 yrs,
father of six wonderful children, and Grandfather of 12. They are all my whole world, and my
greatest movtivation for staying healthy. My wife and I live in Northern Ontario, in what I think is
one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I grew up on a farm and was physically active and fit when I was younger. I am 5’10, when I
graduated high school I was 155 pounds. Two years later I married my highschool sweetheart
and we began our life together. Graduated collage as a Registered Nurse. During my training
we had minimal teaching on nutrition other then to refer to the Canada food guide.

At the age of 24 I was advised by my doctor to change professions due to joint pain which he
believed was brought on by shiftwork. At this point I had gained alot of weight due to poor
eating habits. I felt miserable, tired, no energy, and achy joints. Ironically, I started more labour
intensive work and was able to lose some weight and began to feel better. As the years went by
and I got older and continued to eat whatever I wanted gaining and loosing weight sporadically,
in spite of this I remained in realitively good health, I thought….

At 35 I had reached my heaviest weight yet at 205 pounds. I put on the weight and could no
longer take it off. After a visit to my doctor I was told I had high cholesterol and needed to make
some changes. I was sent to a dietition who told me to cut back on red meat and fats but that I
could eat all the pasta and starches I wanted to fill me up. I was informed the I needed to
increase my fibre in the form of fruits and vegtables. I now know this was terrible advice.
However, it was what the dietition had been taught and the misinformation continues.
A few years later with my cholesterol levels increasing I was also diagnosed with high blood
pressure. At this time I was still eating from the food guide, but decided I should include some
weights to try and help get this under control. In spite of adding 20 to 30 mins of exercise a day
it did absaloutely nothing to change my health or my body composition. By this time I was also
experiencing increased achey joints and had also developed occasional gout. I was still
suffering from fatigue and fluctuating moods and energy levels. I was on a roller coaster. I now
know that at this point I was extremely metobolically unhealthy. It was a wake up call.
In 2017 my wife and I discover the ketogenic diet through Dr. Ken Berry. We jumped on the keto
train and have never looked back. I lost 45 pounds, most of my joint pain, and my energy
increased. My toes although still stiff did not ache from gout. I felt like a new man. I went to my
doctor for my annual check up and after taking my blook pressure she asked me what I had
been doing as my blood pressure had dropped substantially. I informed her I was on the
ketogenic way of life, and she was extremely supportive. I was sent for my bloodwork and my
lipid panels were much better. NO MEDICATIONS NEEDED! In hind sight I wish I had
consumed more protein as to prevent lean muscle loss on keto. I felt good but I felt I was a little
too thin, I felt I had lost to much lean muscle mass. I know there is some contradiction out there about this, I can only share from my own experience.

After a year on keto I began to become interested in what was called the carnivore way of
eating. I decided to try it for a month, seemed extreme but I was open and intrigued and not
afraid of a paradym shift. As I was only eating 20 carbs a day on keto, I thought removing those
last 20 and switch to meat and animal by products couldn’t hurt. After a month on carnivore I
noticed the rest of my joint pain and the stiffness in my toes disappeared. I also noticed that I
was putting on some muscle, and felt my body compasition was changing and become more
define without added exercise! I was motivated! I made the decision to continue for 6 months.
I again went in for a check up as we have been monitoring since starting keto every 6 months.
After taking my blood pressure my doctor asked me, okay what are you doing now. I hesitantly
explained my new way of eating as a carnivore. My doctor who was pleasently suprised and
happy to inform me my blood pressure was in the low normals. She then proceeded to grab a
lab requisition and enthusastically began checking off all the things she wanted my blood

tested. We were both thrilled to see the all my bloodwork came back excellent.
Due to my excellent lab work and how great I was feeling I decided to remain on carnivore as a
way of life. I have been on eating carnivore since May of 2018. During the first year of carnivore,
aside from my physical job as a builder/carpenter, I didnt do much extra exercise. In the last six
months I have begun to incorporate some dumbell weight training and I have seen some
fantastic results, unlike when I was eating all the food groups and had added exercise where I
saw no results.
To date; I have decided to up my exercise regine to see how far I can take this.
I want to encourage those who are reading my story, if a 56 year old Grandpa of 12 can do this
and see such wonderful results so can you. I highly recommend this way of eating, it has been
a game changer for me.

Victoria lost weight and improved her skin and digestion on a carnivore diet

Hi,

I just wanted to reach out and thank you for providing this information. I’ve grown up in an Italian family and all my life, social events were focused around food. The last few years I have educated myself on fitness. For the past year I have been strength training 4-5x a week with cardio inbetween, and trying to eat “healthy” – that is, salads, lean chicken, veggie. Even with being more conscious of this, I have struggled to lose stubborn fat around my midsection and thighs. Also, I have had rosascea since I was a teenager and my skin is terrible, always ruddy and dull. My gym coach encouraged me to try the Carnivore diet for the month of January, so I dove in. I’ll admit I still drank coffee and diet soda, but I couldn’t believe how much I changed just a few weeks on this diet. I lost my cravings for sugar/carbs, felt satiated after my meals which prevented the habitual afternoon snacking (plus I never got bloated even after eating steaks), and my skin and body improved greatly. I couldn’t believe how many people commented on how lean I looked in such a short amount of time. I finally dropped below 140 on the scale for the first time in years. Also, my rosascea calmed down! It’s nowhere near as red and patchy as it was, and my skin even looks healthier! I think it’s because I cut out sugar at the beginning of February I went off Carnivore for the Superbowl weekend and instantly felt like garbage. I was drinking, eating carbs and processed foods, and I realized: this feeling isn’t worth it. I even noticed how snap peas cause my throat/tongue to tingle, so I’m more aware of how my body react to vegetables which I assumed my whole life were to be consumed in abundance. Now I have completed another week of carnivore and feeling amazing! It’s a no-brainer to me to prioritize fat and protein in my diet now! And ultimately I’m just excited to see how carrying on this way continues to improve my rosascea and helps me to reach my goal weight. The journey has just begun!

Kind regards,
Victoria

Daryl lost weight and improved his sleep and snoring on a carnivore diet

Dear Shawn,

I wanted to relay my personal story as I just read your book and there is one disease I think you should add to the list of diseases that could potentially be eliminated on the carnivore diet. This includes snoring and sleep apnea, which do not appear on the list in your book.

My story is as follows: I heard your podcast on Joe Rogan a couple of years back and was very impressed. I also heard Joe Rogan’s podcasts with Jordan Peterson, and Mikhaila Peterson (separate podcasts). I tried the carnivore diet the first time after hearing Jordan Peterson mention his and his daughter Mikhaila’s diet which was based on carnivore. I was overweight (220 lbs at 5-ft 9), and had sleep apnea and crazy snoring for several years. In the past it took me bringing my weight down below 190 to reduce my snoring and apnea. To my great surprise (and my wife’s elation and improved sleep), my snoring and apnea went away within one week of going carnivore and I was able to wake up on the first alarm ring in the morning with lots of energy and positive state of mind throughout the day. I had no measurable weight loss by the scale and thought that the loss of snoring/ sleep apnea was not possible without weight loss. But it happened.  I am a neuroimmunologist by training and immediately made the connection of possible reduction in inflammation due to the carnivore diet as a trigger for my snoring and apnea going away without any measurable weight loss.

Within a few months, around the holiday time, I went off the carnivore diet and my snoring and apnea returned within a couple of weeks. I have since gone back on the diet, again without measurable weight loss, and once again my snoring and apnea cleared up within 3 days this time. The same effects of ability to wake up early in the morning, with energy and good mood all day long returned too.

I feel at this point, the disappearance of my snoring and apnea must be the direct result of the carnivore diet, and not simply a coincidence. I also recently re-listened to the Joe Rogan podcast with Jordan Peterson, where they discussed the carnivore diet, and I heard Jordan say something I did not hear (or at least did not remember) when I listed to it the first time. Jordan also said that his snoring cleared up within a week of starting on the diet!  I hadn’t recalled that.

It is clear to me that part of the benefits of the carnivore diet, and ones that I believe should be listed in the table of diseases in your book, include snoring and sleep apnea. It is no longer an N of 1 as the diet has had the effect on me (now twice) and, by his own words, to Jordan Peterson too.

Many thanks for the inspiration!

Best regards,
Daryl
