Mark improved his body composition, auto immune condition, allergies and performs better in the gym on a carnivore diet

I am a 58 year old chiropractor who has been in practice for 33 years.  My wife and I started the carnivore diet on September 1, 2018 as a 30 day experiment.  At the end of the month we decided to continue.  Why give up on improved body composition, the end of autoimmune rashes and allergies, better performance in the gym, and generally feeling a lot better.  Thank you Dr. Baker.

Hey Guys, My name is BNS SRINIVAS ( The Indian Carnivore )
 
To begin with, I am from India. In India, it is extremely hard to get authentic information regarding health. Fortunately, I found a channel named “Impact Theory” on youtube where the host ‘Tom Bilyeu’ interviews many successful people around the world including well-renowned health experts. This is how I have first got to know about Dr.Ken Berry! Also, by then, I have had read over 100 books and decided to read Ken Berry’s book “Lies my Doctor told me.” Shortly after that, I have had the opportunity to interview Dr.Ken and started the High Fat Low Carb diet where I eat mainly Meat and some rice. Also, at that time I have heard Ken Berry talking about SHAWN BAKER! That’s the moment when I really started to delve deeply into the “CARNIVORE DIET“. When I have heard about it, I was extremely happy because, since childhood, I liked to eat only Meat. My friends in the school used to call me the MEAT BOY. Anyway, moving forward to the present, I convinced my Grandmother, Mother, Father, and Sister to go on a Carnivorish diet and after a prolonged persuasion, they finally obliged! Up until January, I have lost 20 pounds by shifting mainly to a meat-heavy diet. But after going 100% carnivore in January as a part of the world carnivore month initiative of Meatrx, I have lost more than 25 pounds in January alone. As of today, I have lost more than 48.6 pounds and feeling great.
 
Meatrx platform has given me the opportunity to meet fellow carnivores and constantly update my knowledge levels. Also, this platform has helped me to forge deeper relationships with people like TracyJustin, Leah, NitiBali, Raymond and Brett, etc. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Shawn Baker and Meatrx platform!

Lori improved her digestion, sugar cravings, anxiety, lost body fat in gained fitness on a carnivore diet

MY SUCCESS STORY

Hi Dr. Baker & fellow MeatRx members,

I started the Carnivore diet July 2019. I was desperate to find a solution to the GI symptoms that I was having. Chronic constipation, painful gas, bloating, and indigestion were making me feel miserable. My husband started a Carnivore diet several months prior that resolved his eczema and regulated his bowel movements. He encouraged me to give it a try, but I resisted his advice for several weeks. Why? Because I couldn’t wrap my head around not eating veggies! I just kept thinking, “I have been eating healthy and exercising the last 2 years, why do I feel so bad?”

Thank god I eventually came around and decided I had enough! I saw no other option but to eliminate all foods from my diet other than animal products. Within a few days of being on the diet, my bloating and gas were improved. Although my bowel movements became less frequent, I was no longer constipated. No more laxatives and suppositories! I felt so much better.

This diet has given me freedom beyond what I could ever imagine! It’s not only healed my gut, but also improved my mental health and eliminated my sugar cravings and stress eating. Animal based nutrition along with routine exercise has allowed me to wean off my prescription medications for anxiety, depression, and migraines. I’ve taken these meds since I was a teen, and the side effects are horrible (insomnia, decreased libido, weight gain, grogginess). Being off them has changed my life.

Other benefits that I have seen are increased mental clarity, increased energy, improved performance in the gym, decreased body fat, increased strength, and muscle growth. I also have a better relationship with my husband because we support each other as we live this Animal Based Lifestyle.

James lost weight, improved his mental health, and fitness on a carnivore diet

Hi all,
 
Just wanted to share my story, been training for physical health for tens of years now. Took part in martial arts, bodybuilding, strongman, various sports. 
 
Finally discovered carnivore after finding a new gym and a new training system(nautilus) – discovered dr Shawn baker, got the book and got the bug.
 
Started carnivore 3 months ago, since then, I’ve noticed vast improvements in physical health – use of inhalers, gone, use of meds for mental health, gone. In fact, I knew carnivore was for me, was one morning in January 2020, I woke up with such clarity of mind, felt like I had a goal and focus. 
 
Up to now, I’m down from 17stone 13pounds, to 15stone 7pounds, I feel so much better, always had body issues, which have now gone, I’m still strong, in fact stronger than ever! My self confidence had gone through the roof! And for someone who is very vulnerable to mental health this is a biggie! 
 
The journey continues…….this is not a diet, it’s a life style…..

Isaac lost weight and improved his health on a carnivore diet

Twenty eighteen , I was at the time struggling with obesity and heart issues went from pesco-vegetarian to Vegetarian to vegan. I struggled even went nutritional assistance and yet I kept gaining weight. I did IMF, Calorie Deficits, and so much but the results never came in. Thyroid Issues started to develop and gut issues so I left the vegan diet and converted to Keto. I have been almost fully two years strong on keto/ Carnivore and the results have even great. I am still growing and learning new things about nutrition. #MeatHeals  – Isaac

Dragos improved his heartburn, back pain, poor sleep and lost weight on a carnivore diet

Hello, Meat RX team, 

 
My name is Dragos I’m 38 and 18 months ago i started cleaning up my eating with some keto but for close to a year I’ve been mainly carnivore also eating only once a day. 
I was 222lbs on Dec 31st 2018, now at 178lbs i feel better than ever. 
I played waterpolo from 11 to 24 and was exercising close to 4-5 hrs a day in my teens and 20s. 
Needless to say growing up in Eastern Europe in the 90s in a middle class household our red meat intake was minimal if not zero / week. 
Grew up stuffing my face with carbs and sugar. I was eating a loaf of bread a day easily accompanied by lots of potatoes also was eating raw sugar most days after practice in order to partially tame my craving for protein. 
Problem was a i took these bad eating habits with me in my late 20s and 30s long after i stopped working out 4-5hrs / day. 
At my worst i was 222lbs ( in the 1st pic ) , constantly tired, getting very poor quality sleep, stomach and heart burns, low back, neck and knee pain was always present. I would go take naps in my car during my lunch break and going to the bathroom was not a fun experience considering the bad case of hemorrhoids i was suffering from. 
I just want to point out that my muscular skeleton has never been as healthy or toned as it is now at 38 not even when i was in my peak physical shape playing in my early 20s and what’s crazy is i accomplished this in a little over a year. 
These days I barely lift weights, mostly do cardio and HIIT classes at my gym + 4-5hrs of Jiu-jitsu a week. 
I feel amazing and red meat is the no. 1 through no. 99 reasons this is possible.

Craig lost weight, improved his sleep, mental clarity is staying sober on a carnivore diet

Hi Dr Baker and team,

 
Here is my story. 
 
4 months ago I was a 312lbs alcoholic. I was on antidepressants and had sleep apnoea. I was killing myself. I knew that I needed a change. I had tried switching to vegan of all things to lose weight the month prior but I just never felt right on it; I had low energy, figuring out my macros consumed a lot of my time and no matter how I altered the diet, I was always hungry. It was as I was about to give up that I saw the transformations of the Bell brothers and saw you on the Joe Rogan podcast. Even though at first I thought carnivore sounded crazy, I eventually realized it couldnt be crazier than the way I was killing myself with how I was already eating. I decided to jump in head first and commit. I lost 15lbs in the first couple weeks, my energy improved and I finally felt capable of getting back to the gym (something I loved before I wrecked my body and health with food and alcohol). This is when I started seeing enormous changes in my body composition. By the end of the second month I was down more than 40lbs and felt amazing. 
 
Here I am a little over 4 months in, I am down to 235lbs, wearing a smaller pant size than I did when I played college baseball and have completely altered my body. I have drastically increased my lean muscle mass and I feel like a completely different person. I stand today 133 days sober, entirely free of medication, no more sleep apnoea, more mental clarity than I have ever had and living my life to the fullest. Not only did you and the carnivore diet get me in better shape, but you quite literally saved my life. Thank you for all that you do

Trudy lost weight, and came off medications on a carnivore diet

Shortly after we were married, my husband and I found out we were already expecting our first baby. I wasn’t really “overweight”, but I wasn’t thin either. I weighed about 140. I’m 5’ 5”. 

I gained nearly 90 lbs during my pregnancy. Don’t know why, I just did.
 
I lost a little after she was born, but not much. Then my weight started to climb!
By the time our daughter was 5, I already weighed 300 lbs.
 
A few years later, I was 400 lbs, wearing 5X clothes that were rapidly getting tight.
This last photo was taken Christmas 2010.
 
July 2011 I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and spent 2 days in ICU, then 2 more days in a regular room.
 
I immediately quit sugar. It was a shock to my “southern girl” system to give up sweet tea, biscuits, and all the wonderful carb-y goodnesses I grew up on. But I did it!
 
In 18-24 months, I lost 100 lbs!
I was able to maintain that for a few years. Then I started having difficulty walking. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees. I had arthritis in my knee joints and under both my kneecaps. For almost 4 years, I walked with a cane. I was only in my mid-30’s.
 
I gained back about 80 lbs in 2 years.

I was miserable! I tried Atkins/low carb. I just couldn’t lose!

August 2018 I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I had no idea that obesity could cause cancer!!!
 
September 24, 2018 I had a complete hysterectomy. They removed my uterus, ovaries, and Fallopian tubes. My gynecological oncologist said that my ovaries probably hadn’t worked correctly in years.
 
I recovered from surgery, but still could not lose weight.
 
My primary care doctor and I talked about me having weight loss surgery, but we found out my insurance didn’t cover it so we started trying to raise the money. We asked my doctor if we should try to get on disability. She said that could take years, and I “didn’t have years”. We knew that meant I’d die if something didn’t change soon!
 
Even my oncologist worked to try and help me get bariatric surgery, but I couldn’t find help due to insurance problems.
 
I contacted a hospital in Mexico where several of my family members and friends had gone for bariatric surgery. Even though it was considerably less expensive, I still couldn’t come up with the money.
 
In faith, I started the pre-op diet they sent me. 3 of my siblings had to have bariatric surgery to lose weight so I just assumed I was next.
 
I followed that pre-op diet. It was very strict, but I followed it to the letter. After 3 months on that diet, I had lost only 5 lbs!
 
I was beyond frustrated, and very close to giving up, and just going back to eating whatever I wanted since I wasn’t losing anyway.
I prayed! I asked God to show me what to do.
 
One week after my 39th birthday, I woke up and said “I’m starting keto!”
 
(I had come across Thomas DeLauer on YouTube, and I started doing tons of research on it, reading/watching testimonials about people getting off all kinds of meds, dropping weight, and so much other wonderful side affects of keto. I also started watching Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Eric Berg.)
 
Within 3 weeks of going strict Keto, I was off my diabetes meds, thyroid meds, and I no longer needed my cane!!! (I haven’t used it since! That was August 2019!”)
 
Within 6 months, I’d lost 60 lbs! That wasn’t a lot for most keto people, but that was a LOT for me!
I felt great, better than I had in years, but I still had high blood pressure, severe anxiety, and some joint pain.
 
I had heard about Carnivore/Zero Carb, and I had been doing research. I’ve always loved vegetables, and it had been drilled into me all my life, and on Keto, “EAT YOUR VEGGIES!” So I was struggling with the “only animal products” way of eating.
 
I came across Judy Cho, Laura Spath, Kelly Hogan, Dr. Shawn Baker, Charles Washington, and a few others in my YouTube searches.
 
After LOTS of research, I decided to go without veggies one evening for dinner. Then I didn’t have veggies the next day. Then I realized I hadn’t eaten veggies in a week or so, and I was feeling great!
 
In that first week, I lost 10 lbs that I’d gained after stalling on Keto.
I’ve lost 2 lbs since this last pic was taken. I’ve lost a total of 99 lbs from my highest weight!
 
Since going ZC, I’m now off my blood pressure meds (Lisinopril 30mg) and nearly off my anxiety meds (Lexapro 20mg). When I do feel I need something, I take only half a Lexapro, and only once a week or so. I also only need my acid reflux meds (omeprazole 49mg) every few days instead of every single day!
 
I continue to watch and read everything I can to learn more about why we thrive on this WOE. I’ve had hundreds of people contact me since I started losing weight. They all want to know what I’m doing, and can I guide them. As I learn, I share my new-found knowledge and wisdom!
 
My husband and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. I came across a photo from our 10th anniversary. I weighed 400 lbs, could barely walk, on TONS of meds, and I was wearing 5X clothes from Catherine’s (which is 6X most places), and they were almost too small.
My husband has lost about 40 lbs, even though he’s not 100% ZC.
 
I am so thankful to have found this WOE, and I share this with anyone who will listen!!! We can hardly wait to see where we’ll be down the road!

Eddie improved his digestion, body composition and performance on a carnivore diet

Hi Dr. Baker,
My body was rebuilt with beef. I grew up eating a pasta heavy version of the SAD. Hit 270lbs at the age of 21. Dropped to 150lbs in about 10 months on a calorie restricted vegetarian diet when I was 22. By 23 I had developed cyclical vomiting syndrome and IBS as a result of my vegetarian diet.
 
At some point during my search for GI relief I was introduced to Dr. David Pyles a postdoc at UC Davis. This was probably 2005 or 2006, I was slightly alarmed that Dr. Pyles was dressed in a loin cloth. Apparently the loin cloth was a costume that dave created for burning man and continued to wear daily for many years. https://localwiki.org/davis/Tarzan_Guy
He explained this crazy hunter-gatherer diet that he was on where he would eat only meat for several days, then eat only plants for several days and alternate between the two. 
 
I did not immediately adapt dr Pyles diet, instead i drifted back to the SAD for a couple of years and while my digestion improved my weight shot up to an all time high of 290lbs (pic included). A few years later I was browsing a bookstore and found a copy of Mark Sisson’s primal blueprint. I thumbed through the first few pages and read the Grok cartoon. It made sense, I did not actually buy the book but I did adapt a paleo diet like the one caveman dave told me about. This was 2010, in addition to my diet changes I started running, lifting, and alpine skiing. After just a few months I had lost some weight and was confident enough to start swimming, I then decided to take a job as a lifeguard at the local swimming pool. 
 
In 2011 the pool where I worked started a triathlon club. Our coach was Amy Charity (she went pro in women’s road cycling in 2013). I became her star pupil, showed up for every practice, every running race, every bike time trial, even started racing in the local mountain bike race series (I won the novice division that year) and started following Amy to practices with our local road bike race team. We did two triathlons that summer. I was the fastest local athlete in the second one. (actually from routt county) A week later I competed in my first road bike stage race. Adding larger amounts of animal products to my diet (I was probably eating 2+ pounds of animal products a day back then in addition to a bunch of fruit and veggies) 
 
The following summer I went a bit crazy with the sport. I was the fastest local finisher and won my age group in both triathlons. Won my age group at the local 12 race steamboat springs running series. Competed in 5 endurance mountain bike races ranging in length from 60-100 miles and competed in our local 6 race xc mountain bike race series. I also managed to win my age group at sprint and a half ironman triathlons in denver with fairly large fields. And I managed to compete in 42 seperate USAC sanctioned road bike racing events that summer. That fall I purchased a cyclocross bike and participated in cyclocross races in denver every weekend. That winter I signed up for cross country skiing lessons and picked up a copy of Loren Cordain and Joe Friel’s “paleo diet for athletes”. 
 
2013 was off the hook. I followed the advice in paleo diet for athletes to the T. I was literally weighing exact portions of raisins and turkey breast out post workout. I started winning the overalls at smaller triathlons and running races. Second place overall in the running series that year. Won the sport category in mountainbiking that year and picked up my first sponsor “guerilla tags” after a podium finish in a local triathlon. Also ran my first Olympic distance triathlon with a sub 36 minute 10k at the end (sub six minute miles after the swim and bike). I started targeting longer triathlons and had some excellent results winning my age group frequently at half ironmans. I couldn’t quite hold my pace all the way to the finish and had a repeated problem of bonking with about 2 miles to go. Nonetheless even with my 6:30 mile pace dropping to 10/mile for the last couple I was still winning my age group by like 20 minutes but was often 10-15 minutes off the overall podium (frustrating in a four and a half hour race.) I Continued to road bike and cyclocross as well. That summer professional triathlete Heather Gollnick moved to town and noticed my frequent local race wins. She offered me a performance based sponsorship with her Ironedge Triathlon team for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. 
 
The winter of 2013/2014 I started racing in cross country skiing and decided to train for a powerlifting competition. I posted very endurance athlete numbers: 300 squat/ 180 bench / 465 deadlift I weighed in the upper 190s which put me in the 208lb class I believe. 2014 went okay, I was training for Ironman boulder with a high volume training schedule and my diet was no longer working as well. I still managed decent race performances and still raced very frequently but my GI was no longer happy and my IBS and CVS came back. Ironman boulder was a bust with my predicted sub 10 hour finish turning into a puke filled 13 hour death march. 
 
The winter of 2014/15 I read about Zach Bitter and his ketogenic diet. I went “ahah, what if I do a few months of base training on a keto diet? maybe I can train myself to be more fuel sparing on the half Ironman and start winning some overalls?” I noticed that my GI symptoms immediately got better, my top end performance dipped but my work and recovery capacity dramatically increased. My version of keto was a low veggie high animal product version. Probably 3+ pounds animal products per day: Cheese, Yogurt, red meat, salami, cream, butter, coffee, a little coconut oil(at first), and some nuts (at first). I simultaneously became the leanest and the most muscular I had ever been. 
 
That summer I bought my first single speed mountain bike and went back to the paleo diet for athletes protocol. I managed podiums and hit PRs in the first 2 running races and my first ever single speed race. Then I started to get sick again and saw mediocre performance for the rest of the season. 
 
In 2016 I burned out completely! I went back to the SAD and tried to compete a few times with some of the worst results of my life (4:45 half Ironmans turned into 5:45).
 
2017 I read Mark Sisson’s “primal endurance” I spent the year rebuilding on a very high meat version of his periodized keto/ TKD plan. I did a few local races but avoided triathlons and anything long. Fall of 2017 I got a singlespeed cyclocross bike and started racing in the singlespeed category in cx. Out of my first 8 starts I took 4 wins, 2 2nds, a 4th, and a flat tire. Then they moved me up a category. After 6 years of racing in Cat4 and never taking better than 10th I had finally moved up and almost instantly once I got on that singlespeed on a meat heavy diet. The little 120 lb jockeys with pencil thin arms have an advantage on a cyclocross course when they have gears but take away that crutch and all of a sudden 185lbs of muscle becomes less of a hinderance. Now singlespeed racing has become my thing. Somehow I made it into the preview movie with several actual pro cyclists! 
 
Because of my eating habits: (I’ll grab a double cheeseburger with bacon at mile 40 of a 60 mile training ride while everyone else has coffee and muffins) my nickname on the bike race team is “the butcher”. The last couple of years of training and racing on a meat heavy diet have been excellent. Last winter I read an article from Georgia Edes and started actively avoiding plants except for targetting small amounts of carbohydrate around races and key training sessions.
 
Last summer I took second in the steamboat running series and won the 30-39 age group. Won a sprint triathlon. Finished midpack
in the pro/open in the 50 mile Steamboat Stinger mountain bike race, then proceeded to take 3rd place male in a sprint triathlon the following morning. Raced in the local town challenge mountain bike race three days later then took 5th place singlespeed in the 144 mile gravel race 3 days after that. The following weekend I ran a 50k ultramarathon. The following weekend I won my age group at the 10k at 10,000’ running race next day I took second in the Oak creek 6k no fun run. I also held my own in the expert series of xc mountain bike racing and made a point of joining the roadies on plenty of long rides on my singlespeed also improved my times at all of the local road bike time trials. Held my own in the pro/open singlespeed cyclocross division all fall as well. 
 
After reading dr Baker’s book this winter I have gone full carnivore, centering my diet on several pounds of fatty red meat. No plants, lots of eggs, some dairy. A couple of weeks ago I put up my first 320lb squat at a bodyweight of 190. I am literally the strongest I have ever been at 35yo. My recovery is ridiculously fast. My work capacity is near endless. I’ve noticed that If I adhere to smart training tactics like heart rate limiting, complete recovery heavy lifting, alactic sprinting, etc I can train my base for hours a day, day after day and actually become stronger and faster rather than breaking down. I call it “sled-dogging” sled dogs eat a high fat all meat diet run for many hours day after day and actually show less stress from day to day. Just like a human on the proper diet. 
 
This year I have already signed up for four triathlons, round 3 at the 144 mile single speed race, The running series, and the mountain bike series. This winter I have competed in all of the local cross country ski races (classic and skate) and some ski mountaineering races on my telemarks with climbing skins. I have a cross country ski marathon coming up at the end of the month.. Ill probably do a ski-mo race the day before. One place I’ve noticed that has really improved since adding more meat is my alpine skiing. I’ve lived in a ski town most of my life and have always enjoyed skiing. The last couple of years, this year especially I have been skiing much more aggressively. I like to ski the moguls and I like to ski them hard and fast. Since going full carnivore it seems i now have the energy and the confidence to launch aerial tricks off the cat tracks in between the mogul sections. Ive always been a wimp when it came to air time. Now I’m considering competing in freestyle skiing. I think the goal at this point is to use the carnivore diet to be able to compete at an elite level in a huge variety of sports while gaining physical strength as I age.
