Corina eliminates depression and anxiety on carnivore diet

As a kid I loved meat, fish, cheese and butter. Since I am from Switzerland, I certainly had my share of good quality cheeses. In particular the goat and sheep cheeses were my favourite.

Unfortunately, Switzerland is also famous for its delicious chocolate. I stuffed my face with it daily. I was definitely a sugar junkie.

Fruits and vegetables had little appeal to me. Salad was okay, but only if it was soaked in a creamy French sauce.

What I did not know was that I was actually allergic to casein, wheat and lactose!

This was expressed in high anxiety, depression, and severe PMDD ( PMS with depression and suicidal thinking). I also had Selective Mutism and massive shyness since I was a child. That was such a struggle socially, and I missed out on a lot of things because of it.


Around 1995, age 21, I heard about the bad influence of sugar and pasteurized dairy for the first time from Dr. Max Otto Bruker. But I was addicted to both sugar as well as dairy and could not stop eating them. Dr. Bruker was possibly the first Doctor who went against the sugar and dairy industry. However, he was unaware of plant anti-nutrients and the oxalate issue at the time and recommended sprouted wholegrain.

I was gluten intolerant, so becoming a vegetarian did not improve my health issues. Around age 26 my soy consumption increased. And for about 12 years I consumed a lot.

Around 2007 I had an autistic burnout – from sensory overload, too much activity, after having run 6 marathons on the wrong fuel, too much work, too little rest and solitude. So I weaned off of sugar and dairy after a Chinese-American Natural Doctor told me to.


There was not much change really (I was still eating lots of soy and rice and vegetables) – so I took a break from all my activities and this helped somewhat. The solitude and rest was probably what my body needed most. At the time I was not aware I was an introverted autistic with C-PTSD. I tried so hard to fit in, to be like everybody else.

Around 2014 I became a vegan and in 2016 I even tried the fruitarian and raw food approach, though it was extremely difficult not to cheat with cooked vegan food. My health-issues did not go away as I had hoped. I developed very common vegan malnutrition symptoms: chronic hip pain, back pain, headaches and migraines, massive bloating and digestive issues.


I felt exhausted all the time and tired after every meal.


In the morning I woke up feeling stiff with pain in my hip. At work I had to sit down a lot, not being able to stand longer than 30min without feeling back pain. I had brain fog and it was hard for me to focus, to talk, and I had trouble with sensory overload. Depression was another issue and chronic anxiety.


Dry skin in winter was unbearable, I could not sit cross legged as my skin would start to itch. During the night I would wake up, skin itching and dry no matter how much I tried to oil it!! I had cravings for who knows what, and my hair started to fall out too. Wound healing took ages and I also felt pain in my liver and pancreas area after each meal.

In 2018 I had a massive debate with meat eaters, and it left a big impact but it took me a whole year to decide that I wanted to go back to meat eating myself.

December 2018 I started with eggs. Carefully, not knowing how my body would react. Next was salmon. I always loved salmon. I still felt unsure if this was the right way to go. I felt guilty and when I read the labels on the sausages in the meat section I expected to be jumped on any second by a militant vegan, war hammer swinging! 

So I “confessed” my new way of eating to my Somatic Experience Practitioner. She actually congratulated me, saying that she herself had left veganism behind many years ago as well. For nervous system health veganism simply is not beneficial.

So I tried the paleo and autoimmune paleo protocol, at first. I watched many Ex-Vegan videos and Lierre Keith’s book The Vegetarian Myth was a true eye opener. I realized how similar my symptoms were, which helped me tremendously and gave me the confirmation I needed.

But somehow I just did not feel as good as I thought I would feel with the autoimmune paleo diet. Then an ex-vegan friend told me about the carnivore approach. She reversed her fibromyalgia and many other issues and said she felt amazing.

So after trying autoimmune paleo for 3 months I decided it could not hurt to go carnivore and see if it would heal my body. I also started to watch many youtube videos and read many books about the topic.

To my amazement, my body started to heal. After only 4 months Carnivore (April – August 2019):
– back pain gone
– more energy
– I can stand for hours now
– hip pain gone
– morning stiffness gone
– more mental clarity
– better cognitive function
– better stress resilience
– sensory overload less pronounced
– better verbal interaction
– brain fog gone
– digestive issues completely gone
– no more gas
– depression gone
– PMDD gone, menstruation is regular and very mild
– less anxiety in particular from Omega 3 intake
– migraines are less often

I highly recommend the carnivore way of eating. It is amazing. Give it a try! But do it gradually. Give the body enough time to adapt. Don’t go cold turkey. Do a baby steps approach. No need to rush.

Will loses over 70 pounds in 7 months on a carnivore diet

I’m a 25 year old male and I’ve lost 72 lbs in the past 202 days on the carnivore diet.

My story, I assume, is like most. I tried what I thought was everything, even taking some kind of extract that was supposed to stop me from being hungry so I could lose weight. Of course that didn’t work. I have always been overweight and in the words of my uncle, “You know you’ll never be thin, right?”. So I assumed that I was going to be fat – but I didn’t have to be THAT fat.

I went through a rough period in my undergrad and topped out around 310 lbs. When I got to grad school, I attempted to take better care of myself and drop the weight. Nothing seemed to work that well.

Being a vegetarian did work for me as I was doing that in conjunction with jogging. On August 28th of 2018, I hit 279.2 lbs and was ecstatic as that was the first time I’d been below 280 in 4 or 5 years. I even took a picture of the scale which is why I know that date. Being a vegetarian seemed worth it. Even though I was miserable, I was getting some success.

My roommate, however, wanted to get back into weight lifting and I decided to join him. I had more or less stopped weight lifting at that point to focus on cardio. It was the most discouraging thing to watch the scale jump back up. I could tell myself it is water weight, it was muscle, that didn’t matter. Over the following several weeks, I was back up in the high 280s, there seemed to be nothing I could do about that, and I gave up on the diet a week or so later.

At some point I listened to Joe Rogan’s interview with Jordan Peterson who discussed his diet of eating only ground beef, salt and water. I thought to myself how crazy that sounded. But he touted the successes for himself and his daughter. A short search on the diet then revealed quite a few more success stories. I thought to myself, “what do I have to lose?” and set an initial goal of making it one month on the diet. I lost 14 lbs that month. I didn’t have to restrict how much I ate and was eating food that was amazing.

I then set a goal to hit 250 lbs. I met that one and my new goal is to get below 200 lbs. At this rate, I’ll hopefully hit that in the next two to three months. This diet has been a complete success and I’ve morphed it into a lifestyle instead of a diet. I intend to maintain it at this point the best I can. I may add in some seasonal fruit/vegetables that I grow, but I haven’t gotten there yet and won’t actually begin doing that until I hit 200 lbs. After my parents saw my success, they both have gone on keto. My father is down 40 lbs in about two months. My mother is down about 10. Now I just have to convince my brother. 

I started off doing carnivore and I morphed it into a combination of carnivore and intermittent fasting probably three months ago. I now eat one meal per day with a one hour window for eating. My meals consist of steak, eggs, bacon, sausage, ground beef, chicken, cheese, heavy whipping cream, lunch meats and fish (primarily salmon). I’ve also recently started eating pork rinds. I only use butter or ghee to cook with. I still use spices and grow my own basil, thyme and rosemary. When cooking salmon, I do use lemon zest to season the fish.

I also drink coffee in the morning with probably less than a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream added to it. Occasionally, I will use half and half but try not to. I drink water and sparkling water. I also occasionally make a no-sugar chocolate mousse (made with 100% cocoa chocolate, eggs and heavy whipping cream).  


As the image shows, I started January 12th, 2019 at 292.2 lbs. When I weighed myself this morning, I weighed 220.2 lbs.

Michal improved digestion, fitness, hair, mood, skin on carnivore diet

I was vegan for about 4 years. In a very short period of time, I developed mouth ulcers and lost a lot of weight that I later gained back. I got into cleansing, raw food, and juicing. I spent thousands of £££ on supplements and superfoods, thinking that they were the next magic thing and that another superfood hype would save me, while my health was getting worse.

After 2 years on being vegan diet, I developed chronic fatigue, severe mouth ulcers, mild depression, skin problems, IBS, infections, shingles (I got scares on forehead and was close to losing sight in right eye, the doctor said). My immune system was non-existent by that time and chronic fatigue was getting worse and worse. My brain was “drying out,” screaming for oily fish!

Gradually I started adding fish, butter, raw kefir, and bone broth that helped me survive last winter. I stared feeling better and stronger. I had my first piece of meat after 5 years in October last year, and it felt amazing. It digested better than green smoothie (now I now why), and I started eating more and more meat. From beginning of 2018, I am mostly carnivore!

After only few days on it, IBS and inflammation was gone, and I felt like getting new life. My energy levels are great, my skin looks amazing, my hair is growing like crazy, and the wrinkles and gray hair I developed on vegan diet are disappearing. I have enough energy to train between 2 to 6 hours a day, 6 times a weeks, and I did my first Ironman 70.3 last week.

I'm so grateful for this journey to well-being. Meat truly heals. Thank you, Shawn Baker!

Sly improved her anorexia and bulimia on a carnivore diet

This is something I have never shared publicly. In the past I would mention I’ve struggled with an eating disorder but never in detail because of the shame associated with it. But I figured my story might help others so here it is.

During my early college years I decided to go vegan (thanks to some very persuasive vegan documentaries), and from there I wanted to “step up my game” so I went raw vegan. My diet prior to that wasn’t the standard American diet, it was very clean paleo – whole fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken, raw nuts and seeds. Switching to vegan didn’t benefit my physiology in any shape or form, it only made me feel good about “saving the planet” which is total BS, vegans do more harm to the planet than anyone else.

Few years of veganism and my bones weakened to a point where I was breaking my ribs by simply carrying a heavier box against my rib-cage. At that point I knew veganism wasn’t healthy, my hair was falling out, my skin had ash tone to it, I was looking anorexic but still felt fat (serious body dysmorphia), my anemia worsened. Despite all those issues I was encouraged by all the vegans to keep going, that I just needed to double down on spirulina and everything would balance. Well, things never balanced. I started craving meat and my cravings would get worse when my mom would grill some juicy steaks. One day I gave in to those cravings and felt so horrified. I was brainwashed into believing that by eating animal flesh I would “absorb” all the horror and emotional trauma the animal went through when it was being slaughtered and that my body would be infested with parasites and what not. I went into panic mode and wanted that meat out of me ASAP so I made myself throw up. From there I went back to “being vegan,” I was told to eat more to diminish cravings so I did. Meals turned into severe binges that made me feel uncomfortable and that led to purging which turned into 6 years of severe bulimia that almost ended my life.

I tried many things to end the vicious cycle of bingeing and purging. Every day I kept telling myself this is the last day but last day would never come. I’ve read many books on the brain and behavior and would try many different approaches. Every book said when you get the ‘urge’ go do something else instead of binging, but I guess none of those authors went through this because when you get that “urge” there’s nothing you can do to turn around, it’s almost like something takes over your brain and dictates to you what to do, while the other you – the rational you – is paralyzed. There was nothing in those books on “HOW NOT TO GET THE URGE” in the first place.

It wasn’t until I came across Dr Jack Kruse and his leptin prescription diet blog, which was basically keto/carnivore way of eating, that I was able to break the habit. It took me two weeks on carnivore to get rid of the “other voice” in my head that let to my binges. After six years of my severe bulimia I was finally free and all thanks to carnivore diet. After about a month of eating that way my eating disorder brain seemed to have fixed so I figured I “needed” vegetables and other plant material to stay healthy plus all the research pointed how unhealthy high protein diets were so I started playing around with the traditional ketogenic diet – lots of green veggies, lots of healthy fats, little fish and meats here and there. Despite all that I would still have binge days, severe binge days, I wouldn’t purge anymore but the binges made me feel really shitty emotionally.

Fast forward to now, what started as a 30 day experiment early this year is now month three on carnivore and I finally feel free, I mean TRULY free! No binges, no counting calories, no portion control, no counting macros or other bs! I eat when I’m hungry and no need for snacking. My bones are getting stronger, my anemia is gone, I finally got my period and libido back, my skin is better than ever, and my gut is finally healing. The longer I go on carnivore the more benefits I’m noticing. The only side effect (as I have mentioned in the past) is that damn high libido and being single  , other than that no complaints.

Thank you Dr Baker for everything you do. All the knowledge you provided made me confident that carnivore diet is the way to go as well as it encouraged me to do more of my own research. Now that I have finally healed my mind and body I’m able to focus on coaching others into health and inspire others through posts on IG. Thank you again, let’s heal this world one steak at a time! 

Ned lost weight and improved joint pain on a carnivore diet

I’m a 55 year old father of a 12 year old and 4 year old. My wife and I have been on a journey for several years. About 10 years ago we started doing a paleo diet followed by a successful keto diet. I lost 65 pounds myself, and my wife lost 70. I kept researching and experimenting. I even unfortunately went vegan for a year, because when I try something I try to follow through. Well, I gained back 45 pounds, got very sick, joint pain and all. Just godawful. Then I was in and out of low carb. I kept falling back on sugary treats and late night snacks and gained back a little bit. Then I found zero carb and have since gotten back to the size I was in high school. While I’m still having some extreme issues with this autoimmune garbage and still having a lot of weakness and pain, my skin and my diabetes are all cured. I’ve been watching your videos and the people that follow this way and seeing what it’s done for them. I’ve been zero carb a few months and things are just getting better and better.

I can’t thank you enough for what you do and others in the zero carb and carnivore community. Thank you, you’re really doing a service for a lot of folks.

Christopher improved cardiovascular health, nervous system on carnivore diet

Hey everyone,

I would like to make this short and simple since this diet is just that. Cutting out all carbohydrates has been the most profound thing I have done for my health. It’s been a phenomenal 3 months. The benefits of this diet are undeniable and obvious. I have experienced optimal health for the first time after a long journey of seeking it. I now know what it feels like to be nourished for the first time in my 32 years of life, even after vegan, paleo, Atkins.

I have to ask, why has this been hidden for so long? As an ICU nurse I care for a never-ending line of heart attack and stroke patients. They just never stop coming and its all day everyday, and everywhere.

  • Neuro: My mood is stable and peaceful all day, my mind is easily focused. No more need for coffee or caffeine intake. No more energy crashes after meals. Nagging back pain from a pinched nerve is gone.
  • Cardiopulmonary: A significant improvement in both short and long distance exercises. Recovery during exercise is much faster.
  • Gut health: NO more gas, bloating, hemorrhoids and painful bowel movements. There is very little stool output every 3-4 days. I used to eat 2-3 bananas a day just to keep everything regular and soft.
  • Losing weight is effortless: I lost 17 pounds of water and fat in 2 weeks (from 205-188). I’m leaner than I ever been. I eat beef, eggs, and lard. I’ve never been more satisfied and still get excited for every meal. I’m never hungry between meals, I can easily work a 12 hour shift without food or snacks. I stopped taking all my supplements: vitamins/minerals, fish oil, protein powders, pre-workouts. I no longer feel like I’m missing out on anything in my diet anymore. Sugar cravings no longer exist. The idea of something sweet is now repulsive to me.
  • Genitourinary: Kidneys still work just fine. Libido healthier than ever.
  • Musculoskeletal: I can see my abs again with relatively little work. I used to work out twice a day! Crossfit has been my life. After adopting this diet I no longer feel the need to exercise as much. (this is a huge benefit for me). If I miss a few days or even a week in the gym, it’s no big deal. I just feel so good and my joints are happier for it. This is the lowest percentage of body fat I’ve ever experienced.

Lastly, we need to advocate this diet to our friends and family. I know the majority of people will scoff at the idea of an all meat diet, but statistically speaking these are the same people who will eventually be rotating through emergency rooms, ICU’s, nursing homes, and morgues.

Cut out all plant food. Stay away from coffee and tea. Eat meat and drink water. Do this for a month and you’ll better understand that humans evolved to eat this way for a reason.

Kade improved mood, mental health and addiction on a carnivore diet

My name is Kade.

I live in a small town in the middle of Wyoming, born and raised. A thirty year old with hunting, fishing, and the outdoors deeply ingrained in my way of life. Before this way of eating all started over a year ago, I ate a SAD (Standard American Diet) and really enjoyed my beer (what’s more American than that?!). By the age of 26, I had racked up a bill of health issues that were still lying dormant. I quit my job 5 years ago, and that’s when I had my first lipid panel pulled up for a screening for a new job. They couldn’t even wait until the results came back before they told me I had something seriously wrong with my blood, putting my head in instant fear for my life… I got to the doctor that same week and was given the balanced diet bit and got thrown on statins (again, what could be more American). My triglycerides were over 1200 mg/ dL and cholesterol not really traceable because my trigs were so high. And the newfound stress for my health. I lived this way for a couple years. The statins gave me several bout of joint pain and really made daily activity a thing of the past. I was just tired and lifeless 24/7.

I told my brother what was going on and he told me to eat meat… so… I love meat, but that can’t be good for me. That’s all he eats and always looks super healthy. He introduced me to a zero carb reddit, where I could read up on it. Within a week, I had given up all sugar and was pretty into IF (intermittent fasting), eating only once a day. I gave my beer up for vodka, and I was on my way to health! I’m feeling much better, with energy up the wall and 60 lbs lighter on the scale. Three months into the zero carb lifestyle and I wanted to see what my blood was doing so I went in and got tested. 2400 mg/ dL my trigs raised to! I’d also like to add that I quit those stinking statins without docs approval so here I am again in the same boat horrible numbers and stressed, so back to a plant based diet , fish, skinless chicken breast and everything I didn’t like eating.

Pretty much giving up over the next 6 months and gaining almost all my weight back even though I was pretty much starving myself, I didn’t understand… finally a bell rang (maybe it was the vodka!), so I did a bunch more research and decided to contact Charles Washington via a Facebook message, and a response almost immediately saying drop the vodka and my numbers would plummet! Well here I sit, 5 AM… no coffee, wide awake, and just want people to know that this way of life is really something special. No pain, no stress, tons of energy off my 7 hours of sleep and ready to make today mine!

I waited until 6 months in on this woe [ed: way of eating] and my trigs are down below 800 mg/ dL now and I’m sure still dropping, excited to see what a year of no plants does to my health! My trigs never really got below 1000 even while on statins… so it’s better. All joint pain is gone… I also forgot to add that I no longer do intermittent fasting and I usually eat between 2 and 5 pounds of meat a day, whenever I’m hungry but usually just 2 meals. I’m 6’1” and used to weigh right around 290 lbs in the beginning. I now weigh around 215 lbs and have been there since July, went from 31% body fat down to around 15% that I am completely happy with. I am never hungry like I used to be, all I used to think about was food. We’ll food and alcohol… haha. Also I don’t know if this way of life makes it easier to quit bad habits but both times I have been on it I have successfully quit my nicotine addiction! I was a chewer and a smoker as well for 10 years, feels so good to be free!

If you would have asked me before I started this way of eating where I honestly saw myself in five years I probably would have at least had the thought that I would be dead. I’m very grateful and excited to see what the rest of my life brings! I’m almost 30 years old and still got a ton of life left to live. If this gets posted anywhere, I’d like to make sure to give Charles Washington a huge thanks for being stern and believing in what you’re doing and Kelly Williams Hogan for being such a huge inspiration and getting all this helpful info out there. Also a huge thanks to you, Shawn, for trying to spread the word and make people healthy again! Our whole way of looking at nutrition as a world is so messed up.
