Callan improved his skin, energy, dental health and muscle tone on a carnivore diet

I am 23 years old and have tried many diets. Even though I have never had any serious health issues, after going carnivore (eating grain fed beef, kangaroo, eggs and sardines) I have noticed the following improvements:

  • It is easier than ever to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously without tracking how much I eat. For the first time I trust my appetite and there are no issues. In the picture where I look fatter I was eating paleo OMAD and was continuing to gain weight. In the picture where I am leaner I eat carnivore meals as frequently as I feel like.
  • Minor acne has disappeared.
  • My breathe no longer smells and my severe gum inflammation has healed.
  • I have no joint pain even though I exercise quite recklessly. My knee pain continued eating carnivore until I eliminated dairy and then my knee healed very rapidly.
  • My energy levels are stable throughout the entire day and I feel well rested after less sleep.
  • This one is potentially biased but my hair has become darker and fuller

Melissa improved her depression, chronic fatigue, PCOS and endometriosis on a carnivore diet

Interstitial Cystitis,
Vulvodynia,
Metabolic syndrome,
High blood pressure and cholesterol,
Unstable weight including Underweight, Overweight and Obesity,
Chronic yeast infections, endometriosis, PCOS culminating in a hysterectomy and a
Pelvic Organ Prolapse (grade 2) Whew!
I came to carnivore in the spring of 2019 after thinking about it for a year and reluctantly deciding to give it a 30 day trial. I had gradually lost 40 pounds before starting carnivore and was at a normal BMI. I’ve lost an additional 13 pounds effortlessly since making the transition. I no longer have most of the above issues and the only medication I’m on is bio identical HRT for early menopause from the hysterectomy.
The additional benefits I’ve experienced so far include: stable mood, increased motivation, improved relationships, stronger nails, softer skin and hair, stronger teeth and immune system. I’m also feeling so good that I’ve decided to go back to University in the Fall to finish a degree I put on the back burner over 25 years ago! I finally have energy and desire to live life to the fullest! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the inspiring people in the carnivore community who shared your stories. Melissa

Jon healed addiction, metabolic syndrome, and anxiety on a carnivore diet

Hi Everyone

2001. My story begins when I joined the Navy . When I got to bootcamp I was constantly tired but so was everyone else. They are very strict and watch you constantly so you can’t take naps. You only get the sleep when they allow you too and being sleep deprived is a training tool. When I left bootcamp and got to my training school it was different. I was able to get more sleep but I was still very tired all the time. Looking back on that now I feel that was when my health started to take a turn.

Once I got to the Naval Fleet my weight jumped from 180 lbs when I was in boot camp to 220lbs. I also started to drink quite heavily. I was able to get alcohol from coworkers until I turned 21 but drinking was part of the culture. We would have big parties and I drank almost every day but really heavy on the weekend. Around 18 drinks per day.

The first health problem other than the constant fatigue that I was suffering from began on a deployment to the middle east. I began getting really bad acne on my fore arms. I went to medical several times for it. They would always give me a cream and send me away. They never diagnosed me with anything. But it wouldn’t go away.

2005. I got out of the Navy. After the Navy my weight jumped up from 220 to 285 in a matter of 6 months or so. I got really bad stretch marks all over my sides and I started to get man boobs. I had really tender nipples and I even went to the doctor and got an ultra sound and they never found anything. The tender nipples subsided after about 6 months on it’s own.

2006. I was drinking constantly because I was just going to school part time. I would have a 12 pack of beer a night. Around this time my ability to control my mood and my thoughts were beginning to slip which is challenging with a newborn around. I would have trouble not getting angry for no reason. I didn’t want to go in crowds. I even spit at a lady who wouldn’t let me into Costco because my wife was already in the store with the card.

2007 when I was in trade school I started to have incredibly itchy skin. When we were outside working on a project and I couldn’t even stand still because my legs were so itchy. I kept rubbing them together when I couldn’t reach down and scratch them. It was maddening. But a Zyrtec would stop the itchy skin.

2009 I got a good Job, I would limit my drinking to a 6 pack a night during the week, but every day all I could do was think of that beer, plus I would look forward to the weekends all week long so I could get fucked up.

2010 I started to hear my family doctor telling me that my blood pressure was borderline. I never told them about my alcohol abuse. I even had a doctor tell me that my weight was fine because her son was a big boy and I was like him, just like a corn fed southern boy. And of course this was what I wanted to hear anyways. I just kept drinking and eating everything I wanted. But no matter how much I ate or drank my weight stayed around 285. I learned now thought looking back that I had reached my own personal fat threshold. A very bad place to be!

2013 now my doctor is telling me that I need to go on blood pressure medications. Also my fasting blood sugar is 105 and that I needed to watch that. They also put me on a statin. I became incredibly preoccupied with my health and became obsessed that I would get some disease like cancer. I even got a hair cut and the lady nicked my neck and I was positive I got Hep C. I went to the doctor and demanded to get tested.I was so worried about the Hep C because I feared I would have to give up drinking. My anxiety at this point was worse than ever. I even had to leave work after a few panic attacks. It was taking everything I had to hold my life together.

2015 my mom dies from type 2 diabetes. At this point I was drinking more than ever. I was put on 2 blood pressure medication. My blood pressure was 190/110. When I would ejaculate my head would pound so hard I felt like my eyes are gonna pop out of my skull. My doctor tried to put me on an anxiety medication but I refused. I also started having dizzy spells and would almost faint. As a 285 lb man I would get these soars between my legs that would hurt and leak puss.

2016 around December I started my journey back to health. My moms passing away put the fear of god into me. I had a few friends at work doing Keto and after I saw Doctor Sarah Hallbergs Ted talk about diabetes and how poorly my mom was treated for her illness. They basically did everything completely backwards. I was PISSED off. I knew I didn’t want to end up like her.

I went from 285 lbs to 200 lbs in about 8 months. I was doing a Doctor Berg style Keto at the time. My blood pressure dropped like a stone. I stopped my blood pressure meds and the head pain during ejaculation and the dizziness went away. I no longer was tired all the time. I began having boundless energy. I would have a drink once in a blue moon. After cutting sugar out I didn’t really crave it anymore. My soars on my legs went away. I stopped my statin on my own. My moods had become more stable. I quit drinking completely on thanksgiving day 2017. I had a few drinks after dinner that night and I was just over it completely. It brought me no joy anymore. It never even crosses my mind now. I truly believe diet and nutrition are deeply related to addiction.

2018 I decided to give the carnivore diet a try. All the big salads and vegetables which were working for me for a while became incredibly irritating to my digestive system. I couldn’t eat anything without having massive diarrhea. The first thing I noticed on carnivore was my digestion was absolutely flawless. When I would eat I felt satisfied, not full and bloated. The acne on my arms is now gone. The itchy skin still continued until I removed dairy. I no longer have anxiety, I’m always happy. My relationship with my wife and daughter is so much better now. I can be the husband and father that they deserve.  I feel incredible all the time.

I can go for 16 hours or longer without hunger. I never think of food during that time. On Keto I would think about all the things I was gonna eat when I got home. Food Is really just nourishment for me now. Thats not to say I don’t enjoy it, but I feel free from the addictions I once had.

I was already into mountain biking from my time doing Keto but on carnivore I am faster, climb better, and have endless endurance. I even beat people 10 years younger than me. I still weigh around 195 lbs but I have definition in my chest and a v shape from my chest to my waist.

Going Keto and then ultimately carnivore has made me realize I was not living life before, but going through the motions. I am truly living now and it’s the best feeling in the world. I have no plans of going back.

Stephen improved his blood sugar, dental health, digestion, mood/mental health, sex, and skin, and treated his back pain and headaches on a carnivore diet

I am 25, 175lbs, stronger, happier, with better skin and digestion, than I’ve had since I was 17. Growing up, my family, in an attempt to chastise me or tease me, gave me a sort of nickname regarding food: “cookies, cakes and candies.” I loved sweets, and was known to eat all my brothers’ winter oreos or popsicles, cereal, or what have you. In high school and college I would legitimately have cereal as 1/3 of my diet (or more), along with bagels, bread, ice cream, etc. In high school some of my best friends made fun of me because I would sometimes even come prepared with a bagel in my pocket.

Then in college, everything started hitting the fan and my world started spinning: I began to have constant, I mean constant, stomach pain all day long, from the morning I awoke to going to sleep. Some friends in college persuaded me, along ethical lines (not nutritional) to try vegetarianism and veganism, so I was the former for a year and a half and the latter for 8-10 months— it was horrible. I ate tons of fruit, granola, cereal, soy ice cream, cider— I was rail thin, weak, tired, and eventually became very sick.

In Summer 2014, after a year of veg/anism, I went abroad and returned with a fever that stayed and left me almost bedridden for over a month; the apartment I was living in had black mold, and I didn’t have much energy each day. I brushed it off and got back to school, but friends around me realized I wasn’t myself— my energy was gone, I was becoming more irritable and withdrawn, I had panic attacks and my stomach constantly hurt all day long.

It eventually got so bad that I needed an ice pack strapped to my chest just to sleep, had various GI tests, got my gallbladder removed, and had constant searing back pain as well (which I also needed an ice pack just to sleep too). It was the worst couple years of my life, and I felt like there was no way out— praying and meditating alone and with friends, celebrating Eucharist at Church, being with friends, playing music, hiking and reading poetry were the only things that gave me solace as I became sort of a recluse.

Problems:

  • Hypoglycemia (probably pre-diabetic)
  • brain fog, poor memory, low mental acuity
  • low energy, chronic fatigue
  • intense anxiety, panic attacks (was medicated) for years
  • depression and mood swings
  • GERD
  • IBS
  • diarrhea for years
  • chronic stomach pain
  • failed gallbladder
  • Skin eczema/rashes (sometimes bled)
  • low libido (hormonal imbalance)
  • chronic back pain
  • headaches
  • lip sores
  • eye inflammation
  • easy sunburn
  • some random tumors/cysts
  • anemia
  • poor dental health

My mom and brother had been off of gluten and sugar for years by the time I was in college, they were nominally following Robb Wolf and the Paleo movement, but they did not know or practice a Keto or Carnivore Way of Eating. By 2017 I started eliminating foods and keeping a food journal, starting with gluten, then all grain, then cruciferous veggies, then nightshades, legumes, and on and on.

By December 2017, I was in shambles, and my roommate told me about one of his best friends who had Crohn’s and reversed it with the ketogenic diet. I was desperate, and had been addictively reading about nutrition, fasting, and ketosis (I did just barely come across carnivore at this time, but I brushed it off because it seemed too intimidating, I loved sugar).

After fasting all day Christmas Day 2017 and feeling much relieved, and then jumped into keto, hands to the plow no looking back. I starting feeling better and better, every week, month, and quarter I would keep saying, “Man, I haven’t felt this good since I was 18!” By around October 2018, after reading about Carnivore for a couple months, I was yearning for something more streamlined, easier, nutritious, and satiating, to get me to the next place (still had some residual anxiety, tiredness, skin issues, etc)— so I went to Carnivore and it just got better and better. My strength, mental acuity, and skin got even better. (Before keto- 2 pull ups, on Keto- 7 pull ups, on carnivore- 18 pull ups).

Improvements:

  • No digestive issues whatsoever
  • Best mental focus, attention, and mood since high school
  • no brain fog or headaches
  • best strength I’ve maybe ever had
  • much improved dental health
  • anxiety and depression are gone!
  • normal libido (hormonal balance)
  • little to no sunburn after hours in direct sunlight (first time in my life)
  • tumors/cysts disappeared
  • no back pain
  • no eye inflammation
  • clear and really smooth skin
  • steady energy all day

I am now absolutely loving this WOE and I don’t really see ever leaving it— although I am like 95% carnivore, I have some onions, garlic, mushrooms sometimes, and once a month or two I’ll split a sweet potato or make avocado pudding with friends. Meat does continue to taste better and better (I am soon going to get a quarter of beef!).

I am eternally grateful for the work of Shawn Baker, especially Joe Rogan hosting Mikhaila Peterson (my first major exposure to Carnivore), the Zero Carb subreddit, Dr. Darren Schmidt, and countless others for making this possible, as well as friends and family, who have supported me through this hard time and brought immense healing. I’ve now been on keto for a year and a half and on zero carb for 9 months and am so filled with awe and so thankful.

Peace

Ashley improves fitness, mood, skin, and weight loss on a carnivore diet

Hi Dr. Baker,

Thank you for your work. Since hearing you speak on Rogan in 2017 about how meat is healing people, I took the leap from Keto to Carnivore and am so glad I did! My details are down below but basically, my benefits are amazing: My skin is flawless! My belly is flat! My body is strong!!! My cravings are gone! I experience an even mood and have great mental focus. I share my thoughts on the movement on my Youtube Channel and love to spread this message.

My favorite part of Carnivore, is that I am not wasting money and energy anymore with supplements and baking alternative desserts and breads- I don’t even think about that stuff. It’s a wonderful change.

My story: I was a C-section, breast fed baby. I suffered child abuse from ages 5-7. My mental health and physical health began to deteriorate at 5 years old. I had major constipation, stomach aches and hallucinations at night. I ate a low cholesterol/low fat Standard American Diet. At 12 years old, I had a permanently distended belly had my tonsils removed, was diagnosed lactose intolerant, bipolar and given meds for allergies and depression at that time.

My weight increased rapidly at age 15 and was diagnosed ADHD later that year. Soon after, cystic acne began showing up uncontrollably. I was so depressed. My parents believed the meds were the only thing that kept me going. Switching dosages and brands was a common thing every month or so. At 17, I started binging, purging and restricting food all together. It was a desperate attempt to control uncontrollable gas which turned into a full on eating disorder. I started over exercising at this time as well. My left hip began to click all the time and my teeth were translucent from purging. So messed up. I smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol to ease my disturbing social anxiety.

At 25 I sought help for the eating disorder, stopped smoking and drinking and went gluten free. I was accepted as a kidney donor and given a clean bill of health although I looked and felt terrible so I started doubting my doctors and began looking into alternative lifestyles…how to get off of meds and to fix my skin. I began chasing the vegan lifestyles (fruitarian mono-meals, raw fruits, sprouting nuts and seeds, supplements, tons of bottled waters and kombuchas, organic standards, etc.) During this time, I was able to stop taking meds (probably from better moods from tons of sugar) but I destroyed my teeth, still had my IBS, my skin wasn’t healing and I developed insulin resistance. I attended IIN for a Health Coaching education but I didn’t learn anything that actually helped me heal. I was devastated.

In 2014, I befriended someone very into science! I finally learned for the first time that humans don’t have the same digestive tract as herbivores. I started looking into this and began understanding sugar’s role in digestion, leptin and cortisol. I started eating meat regularly then and started Intermittent Fasting as well. I then added Keto to the regimen. I added some exogenous ketones for energy in 2017 and was able to work out in the gym again but those cravings really messed me up sometimes and the acne and mood stuff would come back and derail me. I listened to you on Rogan, then listened to the Plant Paradox Audiobook, and everything made sense when Amber O’Hearn talked about her mental health transformation on Carnivore. I cut back the spinach, mushrooms and kale more and more until I was down to steak, beef, bacon and duck eggs. I’m still Carnivore today and my skin is healed 100%!!!!!!!!! My belly and mood are both controlled!!!

I have really loved this change and couldn’t be happier to know about your work. Thanks forever!

Carnivore flexofighter improved Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Symptoms on a carnivore diet

carnivorefloxiefighter

November 2017 marked the start of a serious decline in health for me through a series of unfortunate events. To make a long story short. I experienced a severe adverse reaction to an antibiotic in the class fluoroquinolones. What makes this toxicity different to an allergy is that even when you stop using the medication your symptoms don’t necessarily stop. This drug can cause serious long lasting and even permanent side effects and damage leading to disability and even death. It has black box warnings by the FDA. Some reacts immediately and from only 1 pill and others need to take a higher does or multiple courses before they react.

The reasons for this reaction in some is not completely known. It took me only 4 of these pills to be severely ill. I became a floxie but was determined not to be a floxie forever! Amongst other things I developed severe allergies to many foods, histamine intollerance, digestive issues, vision issues, hearing issues, brain fog, heart rhythm issues, my teeth became translucent, my cycle stopped and I lost a ton of weight. (15kg’s in a little more than a month). A doctor concluded (amongst other things) that my mitochondria was not functioning as they should, I experienced severe oxodative stress, my thyroid was affected and I had tons of nutritional deficiencies. I was in pain (Everywhere) my joints were popping and cracking like an 80 year old’s

. I gradually and naturally progressed from a plant based to a more meat and fat based diet and felt better daily. WOW WOW WOW! The last 10 months I have been dirty carnivore and the gains I have felt and seen during this time is just indescribable. I will forever be grateful that God brought this WOE over my life. All the symptoms  mentioned have gone away, have not even had a sniffle in 2 years and I have even started Ice skating. I just started working out again yesterday and can not wait to see what great things awaits! Health feels WONDERFUL! Thanks Dr Baker, Saladino and all the other Carnivore docs!!! You guys rock!

Floxies sometimes struggle to heal. If you guys have tried everything else. This is something to look into guys!

(I MAKE SURE I SOURCE ANTIBIOTIC FREE MEAT TO AVOID COMPLICATIONS)

Jim improved his cardiovascular health and diabetes on a carnivore diet

May 5, 2018

Age: 63
Starting weight: 154 lb

Partial list health issues:

  • CVD-meds: 20mg simvastin, 1/4 aspirin, plavix, atenalol
  • Thyroid, goiter-meds: 1/2 smallest does WP thyroid and 200MCG Selenium 3X/week
  • High fasting glucose: 110 in December and A1C 5.7 April 2017
  • Gum disease
  • IBS from “healthy” high fiber diet
  • Back and shoulder pain
  • Allergies

It seems like when I turned 50 everything started downhill. Up until then (and after) I tried mostly low fat, high fiber diet which included vegetable juicing.

I was 125 pounds in high school and went from about 135 to 185 from 45 years old to 55.

I tried a LCHF diet in 2012 but was scared out of it by my doctors even though my weight went from 184 to 125 in about 6 months.

My reason to go low carb this year was:
1. Gum disease progression: a lot of deep pockets and getting close to losing a back molar.
2. A1C was 5.7 last April and my morning, fasting glucose had been creeping way up to 110

Four month SUCCESSFUL results:

  1. 4 years of gum disease reversed as of check up May 3. No more deep pockets, no bleeding and teeth in great shape. Gum recession will not grow back
  2. April, 2018 A1C was 5.2 from 5.7 last April. Fasting morning glucose at 94 form 110 in December
  3. Had IBS, bleeding anal fissure, internal hemorrhoids and terrible gas. 99% gone. Unreal!!!!!
  4. Shoulder and back pain 90% better. Did 130 push-ups on Monday in 4 sets vs. 20 with a week of shoulder pain last year. Now doing deep knee bends and couldn’t ever thing of that last year because of back pain.
  5. Every morning I would wake up with a runny nose filling several paper towels with mucous. It’s now 90% better and was even better when I did not have dairy but have added some of that back.
  6. Weaned blood pressure meds to nothing and BP normal first time in over 20 years (was normal only with meds last 8). I had 4 stents in 3 arteries in 2010 with 1 artery clear and one 100% blocked (there are 5 major arteries feeding you heart). My chest pain did not go away after stents and cardiologist tried meds (renexa and long-acting nitro) neither worked so I said forget trying.

10 years of chest pain vanished after about a month of this and I thought at first it was my imagination (even though was getting great results on my new/used Concept 2 Rower).

My GP does a carotid artery scan every April and in 2017 he said the blockage had gotten much worse from 2016 and said I need to do something soon.

What was I supposed to do? Was already following all the stupid bullshit they told me to do.

This April scan showed “significant” improvement over last year!!!!! And that was with 8 months of shitty diet and only 3.5 months of carnivore.

My chest pain is gone and I have not felt this good since I was 30!!!!!!

  7. Weight from 154 to 136 pounds

Thanks so much to Doc Baker!

Jim lost weight, reversed his cardiovascular disease, reversed his gum disease, and more on a carnivore diet.
Jim no longer has chest pain and fitness performance has increased.
