Jason improved his Ankylosing Spondylitis and lost weight on a carnivore diet

I don’t normally do this, but my experience so far with carnivore has been so powerful and LIFE CHANGING that maybe this could be inspiring towards others.

I started this diet as a 30 day challenge on 1/1/20 after reading The Carnivore Diet in late 2019. Around the same time, I did a food allergy test and it blew up with all kinds of super high sensitivities to all kinds of mostly VEGGIES! Also lots of trees nuts and legumes, I was in disbelief at how many things I needed to eliminate that were considered “healthy”.

I also have suffered from an autoimmune disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis, which is kin to RA but targets the spine and lower back with more intensity. I’ve learned in the past that diet is huuuuge with this disease and it has led me to some pretty extreme diets over the years.

I’m done looking!! Like I said I started this diet as a personal 30 day challenge on Jan 1st this year. First and foremost as an elimination diet and then to put the theories I had read about to the test. Guys this diet has SAVED MY LIFE. Totally transformed me and has allowed my body to heal and grow muscle/burn fat. I feel the best I have since I was a teenager and inflammation is at an all-time low. In my case this diet is so easy and the rewards are so huge that I will never go back to ANY other diet, plus I absolutely love eating meat and get excited every day knowing I don’t have to choke down something disgusting lol.

First pic: 1/1/20 clocking in at 229.7 lbs, 38” waist, bloated and highly inflamed
2nd pic: 10/9/20 weight 196.0 lbs, 32” waist, lean  and almost zero inflammation

I hope this is as inspiring to someone else as it has been to me. I am incredibly grateful and thankful that I stumbled upon this diet and took the leap of faith to start it. Too good not to share! Not done yet!

Tracy improved her mental health, eczema, and asthma on a carnivore diet

Hello!
I’m excited to share my story with you.

My journey to better health and well-being began 4 years ago when my husband, fairly recently diagnosed with T2D, was researching ways to manage his diabetes with diet, rather than medication.  He was on a literal handful of meds that were controlling his BG, but doing nothing for his overall health.  He told me he wanted to start Keto because he couldn’t keep doing what he was doing.  I went along for the ride as the supportive wife.  I was not diabetic, however very possibly pre-diabetic.  I was 230 lbs, depressed and anxious, asthmatic, suffering on an off from some pretty terrible eczema and I was literally dragging myself up the stairs each day.  About 2 weeks into keto I felt better than I had in decades.  I started digging into all of the information I could about it.  I stumbled through keto for 2 years, with my weight going up and down, though my depression had improved greatly and my asthma was mostly resolved.  I was still suffering from eczema and by that time it was fairly serious.  I was back and forth to emergency before being referred to a specialist.  I had been put on prednisone and several steroid creams, none of which resolved it.  Once again I dug into research and stumbled upon Carnivore.  By this time I was prioritizing meat but still eating lots of vegetables.  I decided to eliminate the vegetables and incorporate fasting and what do you know?  My eczema was cleared within 10 days and has not returned.
To date I have lost 90 pounds.  My  mental health is perfect.  My asthma is non-existent.  My skin is clear and glowing.  I no longer struggle with food addiction or out of control hunger.  I’ve started moving my body everyday, which further enhances my mental and physical health.  I have never been this well in my entire life. Meat has healed  me.  My husband continues to manage his T2D without medication. We have been in this together from day 1.  I wouldn’t be where I am without him.  I’ve started sharing my journey on my own social media in an effort to let my friends and family know that there is a better way.

That’s more than a few sentences, but I’m just so grateful for this journey.  I feel like shouting it from the rooftops.  Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Deidre’s psoriasis has cleared up, hair growing thicker on a carnivore diet

Hi Shawn,

I’ve been 90% carnivore since June 24, 2020.  This journey has been amazing. I’ve lost 12 pounds, but more than that, my body has begun to recomposition itself.  The scale isn’t moving, but clothes that used to be snug are now hanging on me.

I used to wake up sore and crackley every morning. I thought it was my age (48) and my mattress.  It was my diet.  WOW. I feel better than I have in years.  All of my psoriasis is gone.  My eyebrows and hair have thickened up.   This has been an absolute miracle.

I’m so glad I started following you and made the commitment to be a full-on carnivore.

The pic is from June 7th of this year (before I started carnivore) compared to today, Aug 5.

John improved hypothyroidism and inflammation on a carnivore diet

It’s 18 months to the day that I’ve been doing the Carnivore diet and I’ve never felt better!  Here are before and after pics which you can clearly see a difference!  I’ve lost about 30 pounds between these pictures.

More than that though, I have had many other health benefits!  For about 12 years I have taken two sets of thyroid medicine for hypothyroidism.  I have eliminated one of those pills and decreased the other by over 50% since being Carnivore!  That baffles my Vegan Endocrinologist haha!  I also used to get 2-3 dry spots a year on my body called psoriasis rosea which  is a lesser form of eczema.  I have not had a single dry spot on my skin the last 18 months!  I also used to have these dry little bumps on the back of my triceps from dry skin and no matter how much lotion i used they would always be there.  I haven’t had those either in 18 months!  I used to take 400-800 mg of ibuprofen nearly daily due to back and neck pain and join pain in my knees or elbows from my workouts and two knee surgeries.  I now take no pain meds at all and never feel any of those pains since being on Carnivore!  Inflammation is down as well and i only get inflammation when i cheat and eat any sweets.

This has been the best for me in so many ways!  Also I have had 4 full blood panel physicals and nothing abnormal.  My total cholesterol ratio is actually better than pre-carnivore!  I take no supplements and people are surprised when they ask me what other supplements or vitamins I take when I say I taken nothing!  The only reason you need a supplement is because you are deficient somewhere.  No deficiency when eating meat!!

Thanks Dr Baker you are an inspiration and your book is amazing!

Mark improved body composition, and auto immune condition on carnivore diet

I am a 58 year old chiropractor who has been in practice for 33 years.  My wife and I started the carnivore diet on September 1, 2018 as a 30 day experiment.  At the end of the month we decided to continue.  Why give up on improved body composition, the end of autoimmune rashes and allergies, better performance in the gym, and generally feeling a lot better.  Thank you Dr. Baker.

Katya improved digestion, bladder and kidney pain on a carnivore diet

My name is Katya
Andrew Davies, sent me a message t o say to submit my story.

Basically I was a Raw Vegan and  pioneer of the lifestyle in Australia some 20 years ago.  I opened the first Raw and living foods cafe, way ahead of its time, then went on to teach classes, programs and run retreats.  I have a background in digestive health, prior to opening my own raw food cafe,  lectured at Hippocrates Health Food Institute on  cleansing, detoxing and was also resident colonic therapist for a period of time.  In 1974 I had a vegetarian bf and at that time the only vegetarian ‘fake meats on the market were Sanitarium soy based dried kibble, and canned products.
I  had periods of vegetarian and veganism before going raw vegan in 2000.
Throughout the first 12 months, I felt and looked  fantastic.

The end of the  next year, I began to get  anemic.  I have a strong constitution, from my Russian father;s side,  yet   my reserves of iron, in particular, had now diminished.
I began to get mildly anxious for no reason well into the  third year,

The anemia progressed into the 3rd year   until I had to see a doctor. II was so pale,  lost weight, had shortness of brerath on walking a few metres, was so fatigued and weak..
I finally had to go to a doctor. .My iron levels were under 7. The doctor was shocked. and adamant I eat meat.  I had to have immediate iron injections, as I refused to eat meat.  . so I ate eggs for periods of time, and then went back to eating raw vegan as if it never happened.
Then superoods’ came to the rescue promoted by David Wolfe.  AFA, green barley powder, spirulina.  I thought that would solve all my iron problems as the labels said it was high in iron.. unfortunately not bio avaialble  heme iron’

In 2012 I went fruitarian for 3 years and thats when I really struck problems. It was good at for the first 8-12 months, then
I began to get more pin hole  cavities. Lots of them. I would get them filled and more would come.   Towards the end of fruitarianism, my teeth were so sensitive  it hurt when I ate food,  I lost two upper molars, as they had become weak and slightly looser in my gums and infections set in.
It was a nightmare, as I refused root canals and had them extracted instead.

In 2015 gut and  sleep problems began to happen,  leaky gut, continual bloating, then more anxiety, brain fog and finally an auto immune disorder – fibromyalgia.

Two  months short of of 62,  after 20 plus years identifying  and immersing myself in the world of raw veganism, I really hit the wall.
I was still looking good on the outside, yet what was taking place on the inside could no longer be ignored.

The signs became more obvious, pointing  to a deterioration of my skeleton, a breaking down of my kidneys, my immune system, my nervous system, my digestion, and my blood sugar regulation. I was almost Type 2 diabetic.

I never went into raw veganism for an ‘ethical’ belief I held.

In fact, initially, health issues weren’t my driving force either

.
For me, rejuvenation was the fuel firing the search and exploration of protocols, which repaired, renewed and rejuvenated the body, mind and spirit.

I ignored many red flags during my vegan years, yet I was successfully programmed and veganism had become my identity. Towards the end stage of veganism, I began salivating at the smell of roast chickens in clear plastic roteserie bags at the supermarkets. Yet my vegan brainswashed mind would tell me. ” Its a body bag, dont pick it up.” I shut down my body’s intelligent feedback system to eat animal foods. I had ignored it/over rode the signals for years, the intense vegan programming had taken over and I suffered the consequences I craving eggs more frequently every few weeks. Finally I had a dark night of the soul, at 62. A complete breakdown. My immune system crashed. I had 3 bouts of food poisoning within 6 months. and it was horrendous. During the period of heaving over the toilet bowl, crying and crying out in desperation for help, I heard loud and clear to “Go Eat Fish” so I did. and then after a few days. the message came to eat more fish, every day. Immediate improvement. I then went on to chicken. Yet the brainwashing was the hardest to unravel. I was convinced raw veganism was the healthiest diet on the planet, even with the health problems I was suffering with, I put it down to stress or detoxing… It took me 15 months before I could eat red meat. and then things really started to improve. I took out all high oxalate plants, and went low carb, then zero carb, while my body reset itself. It was hard, as I went through a few months of intense oxalate dumping. But I pushed through and now have reversed many of the health problems I had. My teeth are strong and firmly anchored in my gums. I have no plaque on my teeth, or sensitivity. After the incredible improvement in my dental health, just from eating meat based, I was angry for a couple of months about losing two upper molars, unnecessarily, however I’ve accepted it and am grateful that I had divine intervention to stop veganism and to change my diet. My gut is healing wonderfully, I have reversed joint pain, I have reversed sarcopenia. Finally I am gaining weight without real exercise, just from consuming lots of fatty meats. I sleep much better, deeply. Before I was waking every to hours, with my heart racing, mind racing. Now that has stopped

I am happier and cope with stress more easily. My body doesnt go into fight flight so easily. My physical strength has improved. No longer teetering on Type 2 diabetes. Bladder pain, kidney pain improved Less trips to the bathroom at night,.

Blood sugar regulation has improved Jaw tension improved. Inflammatory allergic reactions greatly improved. the auto immune Right now I eat a meat based ancestral nose to tail diet, and now that my gut has healed dramatically, I can have the occasional small inclusions of avocado, sauerkraut, or cucmber. This is just a general overview of what happened through 2 decades of almost all raw vegan. Happy to speak with you about my experiences and how a meat based diet healed me. Kind Regards Katya

Kristen improved inflammation, hashimotos, and depression on carnivore diet

Would love to be included as one of the CARNIVORE SUCCESS stories. From SAD syndrome, I transitioned to low carb and eventually keto for years..I just never could maintain my progress. I never saw the body composition changes I wanted, despite lots of heavy lifting. Autoimmune issues (hashimotos), chronic inflammation, lipedema, depression, aches/pains are just some of the things I’ve been able to overcome or effectively manage going full carnivore. 7 months in and never looking back. And I’m FINALLY seeing progress in the gym!!! 💪

Kelly improved her kidney disease, and digestion on a carnivore diet

I am a 54 year old female. I have been doing the carnivore diet for 3.75 years.

I had to have a liver transplant due to autoimmune disease in 2013 and then lost my colon to ulcerative colitis in 2015.  I wish I had known about the carnivore diet back when it may have been possible to save my colon, but that’s water under the bridge.

I have to take an anti-rejection medication every day for the rest of my life, and that med is nephrotoxic. When my UC was at it’s worst, I suffered an acute kidney injury from dehydration, and adding a daily dose of nephrotoxicity didn’t help. The end result of all of that was a eGFR as low as 20 and a creatinine of 2.54 back in March of 2015.

Fast forward to April of 2016. I had been eating low-carb paleo for a year, with the modification of no leafy greens. But I was still eating root vegetables and some of the other veggies they recommend. But even though I had gotten rid of the inflamed, non-functioning colon that was said to be the cause of my problems, most importantly of which was anemia, I was still anemic. I never could tolerate oral iron supps and the I.V. infusions I had in the past never had a lasting effect.

In April of 2016 I dropped all plant matter from my diet. This was quite a scary leap of faith for me because, while I knew that meat wasn’t bad for me, I had read that people with chronic kidney disease should greatly limit their protein to help slow the progression of the disease.  Was I about to hasten my route to dialysis and a kidney transplant?

Turns out that “too much” protein does not kill your kidneys and some vegetables can block your absorption of iron (among other things).

3 months after dropping all plant matter from my diet, all my iron markers came into normal range and have stayed there. My last eGFR in September of 2019 was 49 and my creatinine was normal at 1.16.   And while 49 is still below normal for eGFR, I have been as high as 52 over the last few years eating carnivore, and was as low as 20 before carnivore.  And this has all happened while eating 2 1/2 to 3 pounds of meat a day for almost 4 years now.

The immunosuppresant I take every day also tends to cause high blood pressure, high blood sugar and anemia, among many other things. But I have not had any of these issues and though I cannot prove it because I don’t have a clone of myself to use as a control, I feel that my diet has a lot to do with my “resistance” to those effects.

One more benefit of this diet I’d like to mention— my digestion is smooth and quiet, and never gives me any trouble. And if you’ve ever had an IBD flare, you know how huge this benefit is!

My GI tract has been sliced, diced and re-plumbed significantly and doesn’t look anything like what most people have.  I have had a Roux-en-Y Choledochojejunostomy and an open proctocolectomy with APR. I don’t expect anyone to care about those details, but suffice it say that fiber is my enemy because of how altered my plumbing is.

I have no plans to change the way I eat. Meat is easy to digest and is packed with all the nutrients we need in a highly bioavailable package. That bioavailability is key, especially for people like me.

Kelly

Elainie improved digestion, autoimmune issues, Hashimoto’s on carnivore diet

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s over 30 years ago. During that time I had been a macrobiotic vegan, grew up veg and never felt well, energy nor digestive wise. That led to what I perceive as a lifetime of dietary experimentation, WAP, raw primal, raw paleo, raw vegan of every variety, including 80/10/10 which almost landed me in the hospital as my TSH shot up past 650.

I have been paleo, whole 30, AIP and the whole gamut. After being keto once again for 3 months I decided to take the carnivore plunge 7 months ago. I have not looked back. Just got my blood panel back saying, “You may not actually need ANY more thyroid horomone again. Let’s do a recheck panel in 6 weeks.”

I am elated, of course I have never felt better in my life, carni diet gave me back my vitality, and I do not suffer digestive issues as I did when ingesting plants. Red meat is my favorite but I also eat fish, game, seafood, organ meats, eggs and some raw dairy. I eat animal food both raw and seared blue. It is a most gratifying way of life, my mental state is calm and I have great clarity of mind. It has in essence transformed my life at 52 years young.
