Trevor has improved his fitness, mood, mental health, and sex on a carnivore diet

My name is Trevor, and I am 28 years old. I’ve been on a fitness and health roller coaster since I was in high school. I wrestled my entire life and have forever been under the impression that “carb loading” was the answer to size and strength. While it may be the quickest option, it sure does have its negatives.

About this time last year, I dealt with a bit of trauma that sent me into a 6 month downward spiral in regards to my mental and physical health. I was too depressed to eat. That was fine, because I didn’t really want to or have a reason to eat anyway. I was too depressed to talk to someone about it, also okay with the fact that I didn’t really want to do that either. What I couldn’t wrap my head around was that I didn’t even have the motivation to do the things I thought I couldn’t live without. It made absolutely no sense. One day my wife and I were cleaning our house and I believe we counted 24 Cottage Inn pizza boxes littered throughout our house. Keep in mind, this was just dinner over the course of a month or so. This is when I decided it was time for change. It started off with restricting carbs and following your generic, cookie cutter, high-fat ketogenic diet. I had a pretty quick turnaround in how I felt, but what I felt more was that counting all of these macro-nutrients was absolutely not for me. I found myself stressing to choke down more foods that I had to convince myself, or train myself to like in the first place. What in the hell was I doing? Once I first heard that there was a diet out there where people were tossing 3-4 ribeyes down their gullet each day and getting strong and lean, I was immediately sold. I obviously had questions since it’s the polar opposite from the carb heavy diet we’ve been conditioned to believe is healthy.

I listened to a few podcasts with Shawn Baker and Mark Bell talking about this diet and the hundreds of people that it’s already helped and I decided this was the move. I jumped in with both feet and instantly cut out the fluff and bought a few pounds of steak. I’ve been going strong at this for about two weeks and have already felt an increase in energy, a lift in my mood, a more dense body composition, performance in the bedroom, focus, and most importantly, my anxiety has almost completely subsided.

I have not been happier about a personal decision I’ve made in a long time. This is a very good thing, and I can already see that this is building a very strong community of MEATEATERS out there. I only hope that more people read some of these amazing stories and see the power of steak.

Thanks for reading!

Mary improved her autoimmune issue and diabetes on a carnivore diet

I am a 59 year old female.

Diet: Standard American Diet
Weight: 230 lbs
Health issues:

  • Dyslipidemia
  • Atherosclerotic coronary disease (CAC score: 99)
  • Hypertension
  • Obesity
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Gout: right great toe
  • Autoimmune Inflammatory conditions
  • Anxiety
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Neuropathy due to peroneal nerve entrapment after left knee replacement
  • 3 Anti-hypertension medications
  • 1 thyroid medication
  • Anti-inflammatory medications
  • Anxiety medication
  • Limited ability to walk any distance due to arthritis.
  • Limited ability to stand longer than 5 minutes due to neuropathy.

I started my carnivore eating in the 90 day Carnivore Challenge in August 2017.

My weight after 90 days: 192 lbs

I have tried so many ways of eating. From Weight Watchers to Nutrisystem to Jenny Craig to Low Fat. I just got fatter and fatter. I was put on more and more blood pressure medication. I had more and more arthritis, swelling and pains. One knee joint was so bad, I had a knee replacement. That set off another series of inflammatory issues and more health issue. Sad indeed.

I followed the Autoimmune Protocol diet to resolve my AI Hepatitis after my knee replacement. I also tried the ketogenic way of eating, but it wasnu2019t until I only ate meat did my issues start to change. And wow, did they change dramatically! I am no longer on any antihypertensive medications. I take 1/2 of my thyroid medication every other day. No more joint pain in knees, fingers, hips, or great toe, so I am no longer take any anti-inflammatory medications. My anxiety dramatically improved. I can walk long distances again. My left lower leg no longer goes numb. I can actually stand without worrying of falling or stumbling when I walk. My post Carnivore 90 Day blood work showed some improvements in a few of the lipids.

A1C level:

  • 7/17/2017 – 5.9
  • 11/17/2017 – 5.1

I am no longer pre-diabetic. I am tracking the dyslipidemia and coronary calcification. I will have additional testing for both next August.
I will continue to eat meats, drink water, coffee and an occasional wine.
My health journey continues and I will keep you updated as to my cardiac improvements!

Warren improved his mental health and addiction on a carnivore diet

I am extremely happy with my results while eating the Carnivore Diet. I’ve been a health conscious individual with a pretty heavy sugar addiction for the most of my adult life. I’ve tried different diets and supplements over the years, with the goal always being the same: to rid myself any depression, anxiety, or brain fog, and to just feel comfortable in my own skin.

I’ve probably spent thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of green powders, supplements, therapy, and everything else that you could think of to better my performance. Most of these things I have tried, and they seemed to have worked for a short duration, but then after a few months, I would be back at the start line again, face down in a pile of candy bar wrappers. It seems that I might have a powerful placebo reaction to things, because I believe so intensely in what I am currently trying (I’ve finally realized this about myself, lol).

I’m 39 years old now, and have been eating like a carnivore for approximately 2.5 months. My plan was to add other foods back in after 1 month of eating like this, but when the end of the month came to a close, I felt so good that I really didn’t want anything to change. I’m still working on analyzing my results, but here’s what I’ve noticed so far:

  • Improved confidence
  • Improved mood
  • General feeling of happiness throughout the day
  • More energy, both mental and physical
  • More resilience against cold and flue
  • Less anxiety
  • Ability to stay calm in hectic situations
  • Physical strength is improved
  • Digestion is great

One of the best things I’ve noticed about this diet, is that my sugar cravings are gone!! I am so happy about that. It actually feels fairly easy to avoid sugar on this diet! This alone is a major benefit for my health as falling asleep in a sugar coma night after night can’t be good, lol.

Filip improved back and joint pain on a carnivore diet

These are my health improvements after 1 year of cutting out all plants and dairy from my diet:

  1. Healed knee: I had a bike accident as a kid and have always felt a slight pain in my knee since then. My knee is now completely healed. The healing process took 6 month and my body performed something akin to surgery on it self: my knee got really swollen during the healing process and I felt something (which I believe was a tiny piece of gravel left from the bike accident) was being pulled out of my knee.
  2. No more back pain: I would wake up every morning with cramp in my back muscles. it’s all gone now.
  3. No more stiff muscles: most of my muscles used to be really stiff.
  4. Better bowel movements, no more diarrhea, no more bloody stool.
  5. Better digestion.
  6. No more night sweats. I would occasionally wake up during the night and my pillow would be soaked in sweat. No more.
  7. Not tired when I wake up in the morning. I’ve become a morning person.
  8. Not tired after eating.
  9. Better eyesight: everything is much sharper and colors are really vivid. I used to have to squint on sunny days before. Not anymore.
  10. Ocular migraine is gone: I think this is due to quitting coffee.
  11. Cleansed sinuses: my sinuses always used to be clogged up. now they have been cleansed. I have felt my pulse in my sinuses for the last 12 months.
  12. Regained sense of smell: directly after starting zero carb I noticed that I could smell the perfume of people on the streets. This had never happened before.
  13. No more anxiety: I used to get stressed out over stupid things. Now I’m the calmest I’ve ever been. I think this is due to quitting coffee.
  14. Better memory.
  15. Better cognitive functions.
  16. Constantly high energy levels.
  17. Better sleep and better dreams. I have not had a nightmare since I started with this diet.
  18. No more dry skin.
  19. No physical fatigue: I feel stronger than I’ve ever felt before.
  20. No winter cold: this is the first year in +10 years that I haven’t had a cold.
  21. No more nosebleed: I used to get nosebleeds on a regular basis. It’s all gone now.
  22. Happier: I’ve never felt this happy in my life before. Now I get sudden bursts of euphoria from time to time. 🙂
  23. Better fine motor skills: playing the piano has never been this easy.
  24. No more red hands: my hands used to occasionally turn red. Not anymore.
  25. No more white fingers (Raynaud syndrome): I think this is due to quitting coffee.
  26. No cravings for food: I used to get cravings for e.g. ice cream and chocolate. Now I only feel hunger.
  27. No more pain between toes (Morton’s neuroma).
  28. Gaining weight: I’ve always been tall and skinny and has never been able to gain either muscle mass or body fat. Now I’m starting to gain weight as my body is absorbing the food I eat.
  29. Quick recovery after physical exercise. I play squash, do TRX, and ride racing bike and recovery has never been this quick. Hardly any muscle soreness.
  30. More stuff has happened that I cannot put into words: I just know that my body feels better and that something has healed that I don’t know what it is. I just feel that I have increased my life expectancy by many years.

All of this happened just because I stopped eating plants and dairy! Better yet, I haven’t paid a penny for it and haven’t been to an MD 🙂 The Internet has been my only resource.

That being said, the healing process was quite intense. I certainly got the keto flu and was many time questioning if I was doing the right thing. I want to thank everyone who has gone through this process and has shared their stories on the Internet. Without having access to all these personal stories I don’t think I would have continued all the way through. Heck, I wouldn’t have come across this diet to start with if it wasn’t for the Internet! This is why I want to share my experience with everyone.

Filip

DISCLAIMER: I’m not an MD and have no training or education in nutrition whatsoever. This is purely anecdotal information. As such, I do not give any dietary recommendations. You will have to decide yourself what diet you chose to have. I’m an engineer and academic researcher, and as such the only thing I recommend is that you experiment with different diets and listen to your own body and how it reacts to the food you eat.

Steph improves her mood, mental health, and weight loss on a carnivore diet

Hey there!

I would love to share my story!

It’s only been 6 months but an all meat diet has changed my me as a person drastically! I came from the keto diet. I have since lost 50 lbs of fat. I still have a long ways to go in the weight department. My mind is what has gotten me through this. I’ve had depression and anxiety since I was little. I was scared to talk to people and had planned out suicide 3 times. I should have been medicated but I hated the numb feeling. I was also bulimic for 15 years. I would binge and purge everyday at least twice a day and never thought that would be something I would ever get rid of. I have not had an emotional outburst or a bulimic episode in the six months of eating nothing but meat. No looking back!
